Unusual Restriction Feeling

Recommended Posts

Hi, I was banded on 7/6/06, and have not had a fill yet. I have no restriction at all with liquids or very soft mushies, but when eating anything more solid I feel something but it is very different then what everyone else describes. I will suddenly feel as if a balloon has been inflated in my upper stomach, like severe gas feels. I do not feel at all as if I am going to throw up. This feeling lasts about 30 minutes to an hour, then goes away. I have not once since the surgery felt as if something is stuck in my throat, or as if I am going to throw up.

Has anyone else experienced this? I am curious.

Thanks!

Melinda

You're just full by the sounds of it and your pouch is staying that way for a nice long time.

If anything, perhaps you need to learn to stop just before that feeling hits? But you'll get used to the new sensations and learn the way your body and the band work together quite quickly.

I call this feeling the "golfball" feeling. I get it most often with solid Proteins, especially chicken. I can also get that feeling if I take too big of bites, or fail to chew really well.

It's actually fairly common, so no need to worry that it's weird and harmful...I mean, you wanna avoid it, because it hurts, but a lot of us get that feeling. And Jachut is right, it is also the feeling we get when full, which is no longer located down in the stomach area, but up higher, in the chest more.

You'll get used to the new feelings, and just remember to take smaller bites, and chew more.

Hope this helps, Cindy
