CT Fats 82 Posted December 28, 2011 Hey Gang Just wondering about capacity and the sleeve. Im about two months out and have been losing good, but I notice the capacity in my sleeve has increased. When I first returned to food two pieces of deli turkey felt like thanksgiving dinner and yesterday I was able to eat 4oz of lobster and 2 oz of shrimp for dinner. Im not sure if this is a lot for my sleeve as im still learning it, but I wasn't uncomfortable at all! I thought my stomach was the size of an egg, that seems a lot larger than an egg to me. Please give me your thought about the volume of food and if you went through anything like this and how'd you handle it.
Heatherr 149 Posted December 29, 2011 Errr, I believe the stomach is more comparable to a banana than an egg. An egg maybe for bypass patients? Also, men tend to be able to eat more as they are typically taller than women, so their stomachs are naturally a little longer. I can eat 4 ounces of seafood and a little veggie. That's a fairly normal meal for me. Just measure, so you don't risk stretching your stomach. It's normal for capacity to increase as swelling goes down. Disclaimer: This is not medical advice, just things I've learned from reading the forums. HTH!
Heatherr 149 Posted December 29, 2011 Gawd, I really need to update my picture. My face looks so fat in that pic. Can we say lazy? Sorry to hijack your thread, I just think I vomited in my mouth when my big ol head popped on the screen after I hit send. Oy.
IslandGrrl 11 Posted December 29, 2011 What I've found is that I can eat a little more now (at just over 4 months) than I could at 2 (maybe 1 to 1.5 oz), but that it does vary by what I eat, and even from day to day. For example, one day this week I was able to easily eat 2 oz of turkey at a meal, but on almost every other day, 1.5 oz was my max. I've also noticed that if I'm really hungry (like if I haven't eaten for quite a while), I tend to have a bit more room than if I stick to my usual eating schedule.
