How Long B/f Going Back To Work?

Recommended Posts

I work a desk job and have lots of flexibility to work from home if needed. I had surgery on a Wednesday and went back to work the following Tuesday . . . I was fine but those first few days back were pretty exhausting, and I worked shorter days and did some work at home in the afternoons for the first full week back. I think 2 weeks is a pretty good standard to go by - especially depending on your job.

I was sleeved on 12/8/11 and will return back to work on 1/3/12. I needed that third week as I was extremely sore. Feeling good with lots of energy.

I'm currently 5 days post op and my doctor advised I take two weeks off. Work gave me the green light to take as much time as I need but I think I should be fine after a week. Definitely less painful than it was and once this drain gets removed I should be alright considering I sit at work.

I took 1 week off of work. Had surgery Monday morning, home by Wednesday morning and then back to work the following Monday. The week I went back wasn't bad but I was tired when I got home.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
