Sayonara Soda, Hello You

Tune in to The Biggest Loser Wednesday 8/7c on NBC!

Club members skip the sugary drinks in favor of losing pounds

Those frosty bubbles can look so innocent and refreshing. But the truth is most sodas have about 150 calories per can (and most of us drink from the much larger plastic bottles) as well as enough sugar and caffeine to throw our whole systems out of whack.

Taking the small step of cutting out soda can lead to huge changes, as our Biggest Loser Club members report.

"I used to drink large amounts of Coke daily: one when I got up, one at my first break, one with lunch, one on my second break, and more Coke when I got home! One day, I decided not to drink it anymore. I drank more Water, juice, and tea, and I lost 19 pounds FAST!"

"I started with small things...I gave up diet soda and drank more Water. And I am happy to report that I lost 6 pounds this week and my BMI is now out of the obese category." Way to go!

If you're looking for an alternative to soda, try water. Keeping your body well hydrated will help you feel better and lose weight. Plenty of BLC members have invented tricks to ease you through the transition.

"I use a straw when I drink water," says one. The straw helps him drink more.

Another member suggests drinking ice-cold water. "It just tastes better that way. I also have a rule that I cannot drink anything else until I have my water in."

Still another says, "I make myself drink 8 ounces of water before I take a drink of Mountain Dew." Well, like we say, every step counts. Keep yourself motivated--and let you'll let go of that Mountain Dew soon too.

The Early Bird Loses the Pounds

Tune in to The Biggest Loser Wednesday 8/7c on NBC!

Not even sleep stops Suzy Preston from exercising

Suzy Preston inspired millions on the second season of The Biggest Loser. But nothing can stop her now. Not even a few hours of sleep.< /span>

At home in Seattle, Suzy still works fulltime. So to keep up her workout schedule, she sets her alarm clock for 4:30 a.m.! That's to get to the gym by 5 a.m.

Together, she and her good friend (and gym buddy) do an hour of cardio. Chatting helps pass the time for Suzy. "The weight training to me is fun," Suzy said. "It doesn't feel like working out." So she uses visiting time with her buddy on the treadmill or Stairmaster or whatever to get through that hour.

Then her gym buddy has to get home, and Suzy goes to get a bit of Breakfast, fruit for example, and some coffee.

Then it's back to the gym at 7 a.m. to work on her weight training. She works with a trainer and they alternate days: upper body one day, lower body the next day. If they've missed some days due to Suzy's schedule, they'll try to touch on all parts.
