mandylala12 1 Posted December 28, 2011 I am 15 days post op and have unofficially moved myself to stage 3. I was supposed to be on liquids until Jan 5th. I've tolerated everything fine (scrambled egg, hard boiled egg, tuna, tilapia, even canned veggies). Is it possible something could still go wrong if I'm tolerating the food okay? I'm getting nervous. Also, I have a tender area on my stomach that's just kind of appeared the last few days. And it seems to be a little rigid/hard. I'm not sure if this is normal post op healing or what. I'm freaking myself out. Thanks for any input!
runner 53 Posted December 28, 2011 Go back to liquids until Jan 5. Don't rush things. Allow your sleeve some time to heal
gettingthere 11 Posted December 28, 2011 I agree with runner, go back to the stage you should be at. Take your surgeon and nutritionist's advice, you have your whole life to eat normally, a few weeks' liquid and mushy food is a small price to pay for proper healing! Also, ask your bariatric team about your symptoms. You can't beat the peace of mind they will be able to give you.
Cheles 75 Posted December 28, 2011 I agree...stay on the liquids to give your stomach time to heal.
Happy Camper 266 Posted December 28, 2011 I do not want to freak you out but, my tender hard area was an abscess that I had to have emergency surgery for....please contact your bariatric team and let them diagnose it is nothing to mess around with. My surgery was 15 days after my sleeve surgery. And please go back to the recommended diet.
Lissa 2,631 Posted December 28, 2011 I'm going to agree with everyone else. Go back to the proper stage and call your doctor now. The diet is in place to help us protect our stomach while it is healing. Moving yourself forward is NOT a good idea, not without medical guidance. If you are feeling hungry, make sure you are taking an acid reducer. That will help with the acid your tummy is making. In the big scheme of things, this diet doesn't last long and will soon be a bad memory, but if you have a leak or an abcess, the complications (and liquid diet) will last a LOT longer! Please let us know what the doctor says. Good luck!! 1 Happy Camper reacted to this
Heatherr 149 Posted December 29, 2011 It's funny how advice varies so much. My doctors had us on real food within a week (soft) and regular food after 3 weeks.
