Is It The 3 Week Stall?

Recommended Posts

AAARRRGH!!! I have been stalled for 4 days now! What am I doing wrong? What can I do better? I am fighting this battle in my head that the weight is not going to come off and I am getting discouraged.

My diet today:

breakfast : 1.5 egg whites

lunch: 1/4 c guacamole or 1/2 c egg drop soup

dinner: 4 oz cottage cheese.

water inbetween meals.

I know I need ALOT more Protein in my diet, but I needed a break from the Protein Shakes (and the constapation that goes with it).

sigh* What do I need to do.banghead.gif

It's the stall, sad but true. Just have to wait it out. It sucks but I promise it WILL break and the scale will drop. Probably drop like more than if it kept falling at the rate u were going prior to the stall. It did for me. 6lb drop in the week following my 3rd week stall. It's hard, but try to get ur mind off it. I was completely fixated on it so yeah.....I'm just saying I wish I had been able to get my mind off of it. If you can, ur a much stronger person than I.

Try not to be discouraged. Your body needs times to adjust to losing a lot of weight so quickly....it will pass!! My week 3 stall lasted two weeks and then I began losing again. I would suggest that you get in more protein....it may help you get past the stall. If you don't like shakes try unflavored powder in something like hot chocolate. I think the Isopure unflavored whey is the best...it adds absolutely o flavor.

Good luck!!

Have you tried the Naked brand Protein Drinks?

I did try a naked Protein Drink about a week ago. Not bad. The gritty texture was a little wierd, made my mouth feel dirty, but the taste was good. I am just anxious for the scale to start moving again.

It WILL move again! You are at that 3 week stall, for sure. This is when taking measurements helps so much! While you're agonizing over the scale, your body is shrinking. Take some pics today and compare them to your pre-surgery pics. You'll be astonished by all the changes in your body and your face!

Stalls happen and, despite anything we do, they are going to happen. We just have to find the NSVs to make them more tolerable!

You are doing great! :)

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
