Sleeved May-haven't Lost Since Sept.

Recommended Posts

Started journey beginning of last year at 235 in feb...May 20th surgery 205------then Sept 20th- I was 163 and have been there ever since- I can't lose any more weight- I really don't even feel like I was sleeved....I talked to my doctor pa and talked to nut and they both didn't seem like it was a problem......I told them I have to stop eating myself and that sometimes I can eat 6-8oz of chicken breast without a problem.....I only want to get to 135--- i am 5.3 but I have been bouncing back from 160-165 since sept usually at 163---I usually eat 1200 a day although I could eat more.....when I eat 800 or less I feel so fatigued.....I started drinking my Protein Shakes a day again usually one in am....so still getting 60 grams of Protein a day...I still log all my food online and still haven't drank any soda since the beginning of the year or anything with sugar for that matter..........Not sure what my options are or if anyone has had this same problem...I almost lost as much weight before my surgery as I have after so kinda disapointed although I am thankful for this journey...Just trying to get pass this speed bump.....any advice is appreciated...thanks so much!

1. Are you tracking everything you eat? Is it possible you're taking in more than you think?

2. Are you doing low-carb? Seems like a lot of people who hit stalls can reduce their carb intake and that can help jump-start additional weight loss. I personally haven't had carb issues (yet) but always keep that in mind as an option.

Good luck to you!

Yes I track daily with www.fitday.com and get around 1000-1200 daily ...usually closer to 1200----When I try to drop it to 800 like someone else suggested- I get so tired and don't feel like doing anything....Yes I still do Lo carb but have added more back- guess I could try to reduce them again...Getting tired of the same foods over and over though.....How many carbs do you eat a day?

Are you drinking at least 64 oz of Water a day? I am hungry and my weight loss stalls if I don't get at least 64 oz. of fluids every day.

Are you eating Protein first at every meal? With 1200 calories per day, you should be able to get at least 60 grams of Protein in food alone without the Protein Drink. For example, 6 oz. of beef has 42 grams of protein and 6 oz. of chicken breast has 60 grams of protein, according to about.com, http://lowcarbdiets.about.com/od/whattoeat/a/highproteinfood.htm. If I don't eat protein first, I am hungry after meals.

Are you exercising? My weight loss sped up after I returned to a full exercise regimen after surgery. My program recommends at least 5 days per week. I walk fast for 45 minutes at a time twice a week, do strength training with a personal trainer once per week, and take two group exercise classes (body pump and cardio sculpt).

Are you taking Iron? I felt tired till I started taking an Iron supplement a couple of times per week.

Those are my ideas. Hope they help.

Lynda

You've mentioned your calorie intake, but you haven't said anything about calorie expendature. What are you doing to burn calories? Have you changed what you eat at all? The sleeve won't do it all for you, especially those last pounds to get you to that "perfect" spot. I would definitely up the exercise.

You have hit the wall. You need to start exercising. If you are already exercising.......bump it up or change your routine. This surgery will not take the weight off for you.

I always eat my Protein first----I notice if I eat too many carbs tha I am more hungry..I was exercising at a gym but my membership cancelled out- so I got a treadmill and was walking 3- 4 times a week on it in the am 30 mins or so but had to put that up for christmas to make my tree fit...so the last month I haven't got much exercise---although I have been very busy esp in dec....I'm thankful im not gaining.....

I heard people say they can only eat 2 oz...I wish ---I got this restrictive surgery and was hoping for restriction but don't have much...not much bothers my sleeve....the only thing that bothers it a little is if I happen to drink something a little too early after eating...sometimes I can feel a little pressure so I will wait to drink my Water another 20 mins....

I usually drink 2- 32 oz jugs of Water a day.......I have it with me at all time---sometimes I don't quite finish the second one but usually I don't have a problem getting my water in.......

I guess I need to bump up the exercise after I get my tree down like I did before I was sleeved to lose weight.....

Thanks for all your tips....I really appreciate it...

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
