Mine is on the 28th at 12:30. I'm right there with you. I think I was hyperventilating last night. I'm better today, but only because I made myself stay busy. I'm scared out of my mind, but I know we both do great. I've been researching and researching this. I have found tons of people regret having the band and having to have revision, but I haven't really found very many people regreting the sleeve. I know it is newer, but still even though most stats are only a few years old....If it was bad you'd still have some people regret it, but none.......That's a good sign to me. Let us know how it goes, and I'll keep you up to date as well.....Good luck

Hi all! I'm back at home. Everything went well. I did have some nausea problems but none today, thank God!

I'm having trouble drinking all my liquids for the day. I just don't feel like eating or drinking anything. As a matter of fact, the smell of food totally grosses me out. Can you believe it?

I have been walking a few laps around the house to keep active.

The other thing is I'm super sore. My doc used my belly button as access to my stomach so its uncomfortable getting up and down. I feel like I'm hunched all the time because I can't really stand up straight.

On the bright side, I'm down 8 lbs since pre op!! I'll just be glad when I'm feeling like my old self with no more discomfort. How long did y'all take before you felt "normal"?

Sounds like you are on the road to recovery. Try your best to get those fluids down, not wanting to scare you but I had problems with dehydration myself. Sip sip sip, chew chew chew. You can do it and welcome. =)

Thanks! I'm really trying but this heartburn is annoying. What happened when you got dehydrated? I'm on Clear liquids until Sunday, then I can start full liquids...yay!

I'll keep trying!

Hi there, as far as the heart burn, did your doctor prescribe you nexium or prilosec to help relieve this? Definitely something you should mention.

My dehydration happened a couple of times early on, the first was the worst however, because the blood pressure medication I was on was taking a toll on my kidneys. Once they took me off that, I didnt have much of a problem. I have a specific cup bought 3 exactly the same, so I know I get the amount of fluids I need now.

I know the clear fluids was not fun for many here, but trust me, baby steps. Sunday is around the corner, you can do it. =) Take care.

Thanks! 5 days out and I feel better except for the gas! It's brutal! I take 1 sip and I've got gas for 30 minutes. What can I take?

Hi Nance:

We share the same surgery date!! I'm doing great, but haven't lost an ounce yet. Otherwise, I feel pretty good although my left side is extremely tender still. Fortunately, I've only had brief bouts with nausea.

I'm so glad to have found so many people with the same surgery date and realize that all of us are so individual and will lose at our own paces. I'm following the letter of the law on the liquid diet guidelines and feel like things should start moving soon.

Thanks for your post and am looking forward to sharing with you!!

Carol

im almost 2 weeks post op & i too am seeking the "normal" feeling. its all i want. :( as far as incision pain, i still have some. at first it was mostly my belly button incision but now its the right one on the left side. i didnt experience too much nausea but when i do, its usually in the morning when i first wake up. after getting in my Vitamins & my prilosec, i feel a lil better! good luck!!

Hey nance and im glad your surgery turned out fine as it was meant to be, unlike you my surgeon didnt use my belly button to access my stomach therefore I didnt have any uncomfortable pain sitting up/down, or laying up/down. actually they had me walking in the recovery room by 3pm just 4 hours after surgery, it was the dizziest feeling in the world lol but I wanted to prove to them that I was fine hahaha.

That "normal" feeling you guys looking for is different for everyone, for me I noticed after 5-7 weeks after surgery (actually after I got on soft solids) but then things started happening to me, both thighs went numb, lower abdomen went numb, thigh muscles felt non existent resulting in me falling 3 times down steps, cant sit for more then 10 minutes or i start to feel tingle sensation and butt goes numb and till this date I still cant sit for long lol).

Now 7 months post op all that went away minus like I mentioned above (cant sit for long) and a little numbness comes back to my abdomen once in a while especially while sitting. still taking my B12 sublinguals and wont ever stop. Nance Ive made video diaries on youtube about my post op journey month by month check it out here if you like www.youtube.com/brol1k alot have found my videos resourceful and helpful :) and good luck

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
