Your hormones are out of wack from the trauma of the surgery, subsequent weightloss, and lack of calories. It may do that for a while. Nothing to worry about.

That is consistent with surgery. How regular are you? Do you know of any cystic ovarian or uterine conditions?

I would not worry, but if it were me I would confirm it not with my bariatric doctor, but with my gyno. Maybe an early follow up just to be sure.

Ugh! You know I did not think about that! I was thinking I had 9 days after surgery before I was due again. I think I will stick to wearing a "just in case" liner for the first few weeks.

I asked a similar question before. I always been regular, after surgery my period came 2 wks early and now it came again. Everyone told me it was normal from surgery. Crappy side effect lol

definitely a crapy side effect.. i hope it doesn't stay like this.. honestly i was on depo for about 9 years so i am not used to having a period at all.. infact the one after surgery was the 2nd period ive had in over 8 years.

I just didn't know if that was something i should worry about because i slipped and fell the other day.. i didn't know if maybe i ruptured something..

i haven't had any history of ovarian or uterian anything so im hoping im ok there..

but thank you everyone its a little more reassuring coming from others but i will bring it up to my gyno and see what she thinks.

I hadn't had a period in over three months because of PCOS when I had my surgery. PCOS is also the biggest reason I decided to have this surgery. When my period came two days after coming home from the hospital I rejoiced! How weird is that!?!?

Yep, I agree with the others, just one of the side effects of surgery. Your body is going through all kinds of changes right now and things are going to be a bit out of whack until everything levels out a bit.

Oh..good point! Mine isnt regular because Im on the pill and for some odd reason it makes my periods either not come or it's verrrry scant. We have to get off our BC pill for 6 weeks before surgery so hopefully I'll have mine before.

You know, this reminds me of after having a baby. lol Weird bleeding and I have to wait 6 weeks to start my pill back up, so that 6 weeks is like "healing time". Oh well....completely worth it. :)

I think it depends on the Doc, mine is 6 weeks before and after, of course, but if you were able to be off only a month before, it could be the same for after. Just call and check with the Doc to make sure. It's to help decrease the likelihood of blood clots, so better safe than sorry.

I was so glad i had read someone elses' thread about this, because I was prepared for it, just in case, and it happened. I wasn't "due" until the 31st, but she arrived on christmas eve (merry christmas!) 3 days after surgery. It was lighter than normal and is done now, and i almost wonder if due to the stress, this would be categorized as "breakthrough" bleeding rather than a full fledged period, and that it would be reasonable to expect another period in a couple of weeks.

Check with gyno, but I think it might be within normal range.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
