Onto Solids! Question About Mastication ..

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I am officially onto solids and a full unrestricted diet. I've noticed over the last week that my fullness doesn't seem to be triggered by pain under my ribs any longer. Seems I am fully healed up now and I am able to consume a lot more, the fullness is now much less noticeable and I worry if I'm eating too much as so many seem to have such tiny capacities. I know the rule was to chew your food to a mushy consistency but I'm wondering if I should chew a bit less now to keep solids more solid and let my new stomach do what its supposed to do and break down food? What do you all think?

I think the biggest reason our nutritionists recommend chewing thoroughly and slowly is to make sure we are eating slowly enough to get the "full" trigger before we cause discomfort. I have always been a fast eater, and truth be told probably still do eat a little too fast. I sometimes 'hit the wall' and have a little bout of discomfort after eating . . . not ever to the point where I've slimed or vomited, but certainly enough to remind me that I need to start slowing down.

I'm not sure how far out you are from surgery, but if you are fully healed I don't know that you'd necessarily cause yourself any issues if you didn't chew thoroughly enough but it certainly could be uncomfortable.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
