When on Weight Watchers I used to make mangu with a little olive oil and "I Can't believe it's not butter". Pam fried egg & onions on top!

BTW I have some Puertorrican in me as well. My paternal grandfather emigrated from Puerto Rico to the Dominican Republic. So like your husband, I am Dominican, Puertorrican, American. biggrin5.gif

Nice talking to ya'. Keep me updated on the yummy things you have been able to eat!

I completely get what you are saying! I have always been big growing up and was at around 160 at my lowest when I was 16. Then I met my husband when I was 17. He is mexican and the weight piled on! lol I am now at my highest at 248. I loooove latin foods and will sorely miss them for a while. When I am able to make new versions of the foods I will be soooo happy. There is a dish that I think we make called rajas. We use poblano peppers, queso fresco, onion, hamburger meat, and a Tomato based sauce. Its kinda like chile relleno but not fried and Soup like. It is soooo gooood!! I think that would be something I could eat when I get far enough along...minus the cheese. lol I think I will be chatting with my therapist about food for the first couple of months! lol Good Luck and welcome!! :)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
