Recommended Posts

I realize everyone is diffierent but, generally speaking is the weightloss rate the same for someone going from band to sleeve than someone who's only had a sleeve?

hi carbgrl

if i had a bad toothache, went to the dentist, and he kind of screwed up the filling - when it got worse, i wouldn't go back for the filling to be fixed by the same dentist.. How bout you???

carbgrl, I can't imagine why the weight loss rate would be any different because you previously had the band. I would think the complication rate might be higher for someone having a band to sleeve revision, but the end result as far as weight loss should be the same.

Good luck!!

Ask your surgeon for his practice's stats. What I was told is that the general info out there is that revisions don't lose as well. The theory is that they have become accustomed to feeling overful and are more likely to stretch the pouch. My surgeon's office is however reporting similiar/same results for revisions as for "virgin" sleevers. I think it is because they focus heavily on education and follow up, but that is just a theory.

My surgeon is one my ***'s SoCal experts on revisions. He told me that, regardless of revision or virgin, sleevers fall into two categories: Those who follow the rules, "ace" the mushies phase, learn what a bite size is, and a portion size is, and make the transition to solids well. They lose weight well and maintain it. The other group doesn't follow the rules, blows the mushies phase by eating too much, too often, and too quickly, vomit, go back to liquids, and supplement with crunchy carbs and sliders. They do poorly. He stresses follow-up care and education. He's very strict. I am losing quicker than I did with my Band.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
