SherryA 0 Posted July 26, 2006 For my pre-op liquid diet, my nutritionist said to use 1% milk that is "sugar free" or is "low carb" to mix with the CIB. I was at the supermarket this morning and looking over the different types of milk (never paid much attention before because I always bought just regular 1%), and dont see any that is specifically sugar-free or low carb. This was a fairly big market. Are there any particular brands, or what did everyone else use? Thanks!
SherryA 0 Posted July 26, 2006 Doy! I am such a ding-a-ling sometimes... She meant "low carb" or "sugar free" Carnation Instant Breakfast, not the milk :-)
CindyCam 1 Posted July 26, 2006 If you find sugar free CIB let me know where you get it from. The only one i could find was No Sugar Added and never did see low carb.
NJChick 3 Posted July 26, 2006 I bought the low carb vanilla and it taste like dodo, even extra cold :tea: I have 4 of them sitting on my counter top for an emergency LOL. I also could not find the sugar free one.
SherryA 0 Posted July 26, 2006 I just went back to the supermarket and also could only find the low carb one (the blue box)... I havent tried it yet, but I am not expecting anything great since I had the regular CIB French vanilla and thought it was delicious! What a bummer! SharronL 2 Posted July 26, 2006 Every morning I have CIB chocolate no sugar added with skinny delight ff milk. (skinny delight tastes just like 2%). Lasts me until lunch. Yummmm.
SherryA 0 Posted July 26, 2006 I just tried the 'no sugar added' french vanilla CIB and I must say it really doesnt taste much different to me than the regular kind!
CCBSTX 0 Posted July 27, 2006 I am glad you found your "sugar-free milk." You gave me a chuckle. I'm glad you like the CIB, sugar free. I drink the 2x CIB and love it, as I am tighter in the mornings. I might give the sugar free a try. I wonder what the difference in calories is???? marieforme 0 Posted July 30, 2006 I asked my doc and he said when he said "Sugar free CIB" he meant the "no sugar added." I think it is great. I drank it before surgery and now it tastes even better! It is also good blended with a tiny bit of sugar free reduced fat Peanut Butter and banana (if your doctor allows this). Its a great source of Protein and that is so important. I always mix mine with skim milk and sometimes I put it in the freezer to make a cold dessert.
