So I am just over 2 weeks out with surgery on 12/7.

I am on mushies finally and I have stalled....

I did take measurements before surgery and I know I am losing inches but the scale is not moving.

I did not have a preop diet and my BMI at time of surgery was 49.

When I got home I lost all my Water weight pretty fast and was back at surgery weight within two days

and then I would weigh myself several times a day and always see it dropping so fast. It was exciting!!

I know I should not weigh several times a day it was just so fasinating to see it drop after all these years.

I have been stuck for roughly a week and then now I have gained 2 more lbs. WTH??

I had a great recovery with being able to drink and eat with no issues. I do feel restriction with mushies.

I have a 32f bougie. I am tracking my intake.

Anyone else have a stall this soon after surgery?

nono.gif NoNoNo Missnurse, you know better than to peek at the scale so ofter. It will drive you crazy.

I am post-op 12/15/11. I wish i had taken my measurements before surgery, but thats great you're losing inches. Keep up the good work. i can tell you're doing absolutely terrific.

I'm not at 3 weeks yet but i hear that early stalls do happen, and they can and will happen again at any time. Don't worry about it. I know, easier said than done

Just stop staring at tha darn scale so much. It does movesmile.gif

best wishes

kathy

It is driving me crazy...I had hubby hide the scale this morning before he left for work.

After I saw the gain I was about to toss it in the garbage.

I know its just a stall but with me being a higher bmi I figured I would lose a little bit faster

than I know.

13lbs lost is gone forever!!

Look at how much your NOT eating, your bound to loose the weight! Just relax it will go when it's ready to go. I was sleeved on Dec 5th and stopped loosing yesterday, but it will start again as it has too, I'm eating a tenth of what I used to eat. LOL So will you. Good Luck and stay off that scale ofr a few days.

That damn scale!!!! I didn't weigh myself except for when i had doctor appt's. It was really exciting to see the weight drop off. . . at 2 weeks 20lbs was gone, at 7 weeks 53lbs was gone then at 1 year 150 lbs was gone. . . it's more fun not weighing and gettng a surprise, then weighing everyday and getting frustrated. . . good luck!

The stress you have from watching the scale is horrible. Perhaps you can sit back and enjoy the evolving new you come into the picture. It's fascinating when you put on your slacks in the morning and within 3 hours they're really baggy. LOL. That is rewarding. scales just make us ;) alot of times. We all have stalls, I just don't notice mine bc I don't look at the scales. Just keep thingking positive thoughts and the weight will drop right off before you know it! LOL ;)

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
