How Long Before You Recovered From Gastric Sleeve Surgery ?

Recommended Posts

no, Jay Robb does not have a smell compared to all other Protein powders I have tried ... it's "unflavored" and does not have a smell ... that's why I was able to use it .. I hate the smell of Protein Powder too .. makes me gag ... and this did not have that ichy smell. keep the peace!

jasleeve, have you tried to "cover up" the smell of the Protein? I was the same as you, as soon as the "smell" got to my nose I was pushing it away. Then I tried putting some "vicks vapor rub" on my nose/upper lip area and then I found I could drink the unjury chicken Soup or the other Protein shakes sinces all I was able to smell was vicks vapor rub. Since the stomach is so tiny you can only do a couple of sips at a time and by then the vicks was starting to wear off, but it did help me get a little Protein down, just a little at a time.

I hope you start to feeling better soon, cuz it really does get better and it really is worth it once you get past this point. Just keep on hanging in there!

I'm so sorry you are experiencing so much pain. I think each person's recovery is different. Two days out I was ok and by the 4th day I felt 100%. Trust me, as time goes by you'll feel a little better each day. Be encouraged and take it easy. Don 't be so quick to recover. You don't want to hurt yourself by doing too much.

All the best,

Niki

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
