Four days ago was my 10 month surgiversary. I have been at 80 lbs lost for about four months now. I am wondering is this it for me, or will I all of a sudden drop like crazy soon. I will admit I snack like there is no tomorrow. Only if I can get this under control and push that treadmill harder I can win at this. I have days where I eat healthy and days where I want nothing but junk or snack foods.

I saw my doctor this past Monday and he says I am doing great as far as weight loss. But my mind says girl get it together; its not over yet. I'm also scheduled to see the plastic surgeon on Jan. 3rd. I know this is early, but I like to know where I stand as far as the procedure goes. I've been watching youtube videos of the abdominalplasty surgical procedure.

Well, I will check in soon. I need to stay connected with this site.

It sounds like you know what you need to do in order to jump start your weight loss again. I don't think there's "fault", though. You've done great to lose 80 pounds, now you have to do a little greater to keep going. :)

By posting, you've identified what you want to do. I hope that helps you get back in the groove and move forward. But, 80 pounds is nothing to sneeze at! Give yourself some credit. :)

Hi!!! I agree with Lissa, it sounds like you already know what you need to do to get that scale/inches moving again. If this helps at all, Plastic Surgeons don't usually perform skin removals until you are at GOAL for about a years worth of time. If you are really interested in having that procedure done, then work really hard to hit your goal and stay there. :)

I've lost 150+ lbs and my plastics doctor will not even look at me until I've reached my personal goal of 170. He says he doesn't want to do surgery and then I lose more and he'll need to do it again. He says it's safer for me just to lose all the weight and then look him up. At least he's honest and not money grubby. . .

As far as your weight loss, well you seem to know your problem. . . good luck!

We have very close surgery dates, I'll be 10 months out tomorrow. I've lost just about 84 pounds in 10 months and I consider that to be awesome! I don't snack too much, but I do get the urge and go for it now and then. I've lost slowly on purpose, as I've been on 1200 cals from as soon as I could do, and am still on 1200-1500 per day now. I like losing slowly and hopefully keeping my metabolism going a bit. But the snacking, especially if it's on crap food, will do you in, so get that in hand and maybe go for a walk instead of snacking? I do that sometimes...

Thanks. You have a great ideas. This is why I made it back to the site. But I have a question. How are you getting in that many calories a day? What does your meal(s) consists of.

I normally have a Protein shake or Cereal in the morning, lunch is meat, salad or veggies; at times garlic bread and dinner probably the same as lunch or I'm badly snacking. I love Lipton peach tea and lately I have been making lemonade with fresh lemons; craving this everyday. Water is truly not a friend of mine. But I read a site today at www.bariatricchoice.com on Water and it really helped me to understand the meaning of and why it is needed. Sooooo, lol, beginning tomorrow I am going to try and a bottle (16oz) every one 1/2hours. This will surely help in the snack area that is driving my weight not to go down.

Thanks. You have a great ideas. This is why I made it back to the site. But I have a question. How are you getting in that many calories a day? What does your meal(s) consists of.

I normally have a Protein shake or Cereal in the morning, lunch is meat, salad or veggies; at times garlic bread and dinner probably the same as lunch or I'm badly snacking. The water thing is a super goal to pursue! I do drink loads of water every day, at least two liters. But I can't drink it plain, it just won't go down well, so I add Mio or Crystal Lite or any kind of SF flavouring to it, always. And a bit more diluted than it calls for, as it is sometimes too sweet. But yeah, drink a ton of water, it is great for you and it keeps your tummy full as well.

I have been on full food (except raw fruit and veg) from four days post-op, they do things a bit differently at my clinic. So I've been eating food all along. AND I never lost my hunger at all. For me that is a very good thing. It makes it like pre-op: I get hungry, I eat till I'm full, I stop. And my plan calls for three meals and three Snacks per day, so that makes it easy to get Protein in every few hours, since I've never used Protein shakes and had to get all my protein from food. The other thing I do is really keep my diet quite varied. It would be easy to get in a real rut with this surgery and always eat X for Breakfast, Y for lunch and Z for dinner. But I eat all sorts of different things, so my stomach doesn't make the decisions for me (if that makes sense). There are very few things I can't eat well (aside from things I already didn't like pre-op LOL).

But as far as advice, my three favorite are: drink more (you're already on this one), cut out white carbs (bread, Pasta, garlic bread lol, etc.) and keep your meals/snacks to planned times and contents.

ETA two more haha: Don't drink calories (ie, sodas or drinks with sugar/calories in) and always track everything you eat -- I use myfitnesspal for this. Keeps you well-informed about what you're eating, where your calories are coming from, etc.

Explain why we need so much Water. I am bad about drinking enough, but don't say because of dehydration because I would have been dehydrated long ago.

Well, I've read articles debunking the myth that humans need loads of Water to drink every day, that people get enough through the course of having bevvies here and there (including tea and coffee) AND through the food they eat. Seriously, the human body does extract enough moisture from all foods, not just obvious ones like lettuce and watermelon, to get the liquid it needs, GENERALLY SPEAKING. My Nut said that the primary reason WLS patients need more water than normal-stomached people is because they are not getting enough liquids via their food. That said, it takes drinking much less than the magical 64 oz a day for most people to become actually dehydrated and it's easier to get dehydrated quickly just after surgery. After you're into normal foods and are drinking bevvies here and there, you're probably getting enough liquids to be fine. If you are not dehydrated and don't feel you need more water, then don't fuss with it. I drink way more at work (insert vodka joke here) than I do at the weekends, so I am making up a deficit during the week. And I do try for 1.5-2 liters per day, but I'm not too fussed. LOL. Some people will make claims about how it flushes toxins out of your system, etc. But I don't buy that one too much -- the thing that flushes toxins out of your body is your lymphatic system. It obviously needs fluids to do so. But no matter how much you drink, it will only use what it needs...which it's getting as long as you're drinking enough to not be dehydrated. Hmm, not sure I'm making any sense at this point... :D

        Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

      Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

      Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

        Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
