The only tips I can offer are actually against my doc's advice. Chew, chew, chew. But, I keep my phone next to me and I read, or post, or play a game while I'm eating. My nut and doc say to concentrate on the food, and I do, but I can't JUST do that. I've been multi-tasking for way too many years! :)

Right after surgery I used baby spoons and appetizer spoons and forks. It helped me take smaller bites and eat slower. You can also count your chews, atleast 20-30 chews each bite.

I have to do something else while eating unless I'm eating with someone else. Just eating is boring. I know that's bad, but it's true for me. I'm not a very mindful person, I guess. I always multi-task.

My dietician recommended to set my spoon/fork down between each bite. Sounds simple but it does work. It gives you time to think about waiting before taking you next bite.

I actually took up eating a lot of things with chop sticks, it really slowed me down :) the other thing I did was use an egg timer.

I am with Lissa however, I multi-task and it helps me the most. It is tough to sit at the table with hubby and he finishes in like 5-10 minutes max and he just sits and watches me. Much better to move into tv room and sit my plate down between bites.

Use shot glass size portions with those smaller spoons. Portion everything out before hand. Remember dieting where we planned our meals. Well, you are in the losing phase of this sleeve which requires planning ahead.

At a year out I still eat on smaller plates at home and still count my chews. Be the light of every party and entertain those around you during those bites. If you eat to fast you will be the first one done and everyone will watch you not eat as they continue to finish their meals. Learn new habits now so you do not continue bad habits for the NEW you.

I love my sleee. Good luck!

I went to a game store and bought a 2 minute egg timer. Then I would take a bite, turn over the hourglass and enjoy my bite. The egg timer let me know when I could take another bite and I didn't have to concentrate on counting my chews. I would read or watch the tv or chat with hubby. The timer always let me know when it was safe to take another bite. Worked really well for me. Now at over 7 months out...I don't use the timer anymore but it sure helped earlier!!

Living the dream!,

I still struggle with eating too fast. In the first few months, I used baby spoons. Now, if I'm hungry, I really have to be mindful (so multitasking won't work for me!)--it's too easy for me to gobble if I'm not thinking about it while I'm eating. That being said, I do eat at my computer frequently, and that does help me slow down sometimes, because I can't type and carry food to my mouth at the same time!! LOL

Using chopsticks is a fabulous idea! I always eat very slow when I use them and could use more practice. I LOVE sushi and all other Asian food.

I set down my utensil between bites and always have something around to distract me a bit- like my kids or the newspaper. It is hard to remember to slow down!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
