Does anyone have a Mid Band?

Recommended Posts

I have a mid band that was put in on May 29th 2006. I have lost 27 pounds so far but the last few weeks have been almost nothing. I find that I can eat more so I am having a fill in a week. I notice if I am under stress I can't eat without P'bing. Then other days i can eat a full plate. Has anyone had a mid band filled?

Hello there,

Its good I came across your thread. Yes I have the mid-band, and I'm very happy with it. I just got my first fill about a month ago, I've lost 3 kilos since, but I guess I haven't lost as much as I wish since the doctor was easy on my first fill and didn't want to fill the band a lot.

I also have the midband. It will be 2 years in Sept. I am going for my first fill since surgery next month, but I've been needing one for several months. I lost almost 90 pounds but lost all restriction around march and have gained back over 20. I was given a 6cc fill at surgery, but I think either I've somehow lost it or my stomach really shrank!

The Midband is the french band from Lyons, France. It's a completely pliable band with no hard or sharp areas. It is said to have little or no erosion risk, and so far has a much lower reported incidence of slippage than american bands. It is not FDA approved, so american aftercare is nearly nonexistent.

I had 2 ccs put in after my surgery, but when I went to get a fill on the 4th of august the Doc told me I only had 1/2 cc. he said it might have stayed in port tube or whatever. I was filled with 2 cc's again but I am not real tight. I have lost a total of 30 in 2 months so I am happy.

I have a Midband patient who wants a fill but I can't figure out if you can just use saline in it - can you folks shed some light for me?

My midband fill is 50% saline with 50% iopamidol. The midband initially had problems with osmosis, and Fluid shifting into the bands causing overfills, so the bands were reconfigured and the fill solution reformulated.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
