I Feel Like I Eat Continuously

Recommended Posts

I am 7wks postop and can eat about 1/2 cup of food at a time. Per my diet instructions, I eat 5 meals a day and drink liquids in between. In the beginning it didn't bother me that I ate something frequently because I just don't get much for calories. I still don't get much for calories and I always start my meals with Proteins first. However, I feel like I'm getting paranoid about how often I am eating and the fact that people ask me questions about my eating habits. I have read about other people being told to eat three meals a day and wonder if that's the way to go. At the same time, I barely get in 750 calories a day with my 5 meals and liquids. If I cut out two meals I would have to add higher calorie foods to the three meals and start drinking some calories. I choose low cal or no cal liquids. Personally I have always been the type that prefers to chew her calories. Maybe I should change that thinking. Also, sometimes I wonder if I'm drinking liquids the whole time between meals, am I just "poofing out" my sleeve? And, if so, is that good or bad or what. Ok, so I admit I can completely over think things. So if I'm being neurotic please just talk me down. LOL. Thanks everyone.....Big hugs! LIsa

I am trying to get all my Protein from food now (SO tired of Protein drinks) so I feel like I'm eating a lot too, but like you I'm staying around 700-900 calories and 60-75 grams of protein.

Are you waiting to drink at least 30 minutes after you finish eating?

Are the liquids you are drinking calorie-free/sugar-free?

If both of the above are "yes" I think you're in pretty good shape, and the people who are around you will get used to your new eating style soon. :)

I eat 5 to 6 "mini-meals" through the day. I think it actually helps keep me satisfied and keeps my blood sugar level. I drink when I'm thirsty--I never worried that much about when I drank, but I noticed that drinking immediately after eating was not a good idea, since it made me overfull (and that is NEVER a good idea, LOL!).

If you're within your prescribed limits for calories, I'd say you're golden.

I'm at goal and I still feel like I am putting something in my mouth all day long! Water, Vitamins, Calcium, Iron, food...it never ends! As long as you are tracking and not eating junk, I think you are fine and don't need to worry about how many times you are eating.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
