It sounds like the gas but I would definitely ask. I felt a general bloated pained feeling when sipping too much after surgery.

Best of luck to you both!

That "bloated pain feeling" was my signal that I was full, or that I was drinking too fast, right after surgery. Walk, walk, walk, sip, sip, sip, repeat is the only thing I can suggest. And, of course, ask your doctor about anything that concerns you. It's much better to be proactive and ask questions than to suffer in silence!

Welcome to the loser's bench and good luck on your journey!! :)

Hi Rebecca! It most likely is gas since it's still soon after the surgery. However, I was cautioned by my surgeon to take in about one oz. of Fluid every 7 to 8 minutes, not more nor sooner. In other words, take about 8 minutes or so to consume one oz, then start on the next or if you finished it in say 6 minutes, wait till the 8 minutes to start on the next ounce. I know, it sounds like so much work! It was the first few days. The focus is on sipping and moving/walking, sipping and walking, sipping and walking. This way you get all your fluids in too and it helps to move the gas out. The good news is that things get better and better literally day to day. Hang in there!

Congratulations on your surgery!!!! You too MissE!!!! Best wishes to you both for a super speedy recovery. Once you get through this phase, you are so going to LOVE your sleeve!!!! :-)

The first few days after surgery, I was targeting one ounce every fifteen minutes and sometimes that was too fast. To me this sounds normal from drinking a bit too much too fast while you are still swollen.

I am 10 days post sleeve and gas when drinking liquids is one of my biggest issues! I seem to swallow an air bubble with almost every drink. I use Gas-X strips regularly and they seem to help a lot. I just try to slow down and change positions to help the bubbles move up and out. It does make it more difficult to get enough fluids in, as it is very time consuming. But, I will say, it does get a little better each day! Hope it goes smoothly from here! Best of luck to you!!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
