I have been tracking my food on fitday and it looks like i don't have enough calories BUT i don't see the #'s moving on the scale.

Could it be that i don't eat enough???

Today:(I already know what i'll eat)

coffee 2cream and 1 sugar

about 1/2 cup pineapple(struggled)

2 mini sandwich bologna sandwiches with lettuce& cheese(if i can)

mustard

apple no skin medium

slisbury steak w gravy about 4 oz

mixed salad w garlic dressing

1 c milk 2 %

Total 876 cals

I don't know what else i could add that would give me Protein and when to eat it???

Any ideas? Is this enough food or not enough patience.I have super good restriction right up until dinner time then it's almost a free for all.Going for another small fill June 23rd but i am nervous about my daytime restriciton.

There is a school of thought that says that when the body senses that there is a drought, it shuts down many vital functions in order to keep us from starving. People refer to it as "starvation mode." I think the ideal is that (on fitday or elsewhere) you calculate how many calories you need to operate your body (basal) and how many you need to do the things you do (activities), and then come in at 500-1000 or so calories LESS than that number, which makes for about a pound or two per week.

I think that at <900 calories, your body has begun conserving calories in anticipation of potential starvation. Some successful people have a high calorie day one or twice a week to keep the body from conserving calories.

I agree with GeezerSue! When you don't eat enough you metabolism slows down and you won't loose as quickly! I struggle with eating too. I am slowly but surley figuring that I am not loosing weight, because I don't eat enough! I try, but it's so hard!

Maybe try Protein shakes...that may help?!?

Band or no band, I don't think you are getting enough calories. Anything under at least 1200 sounds dangerous to me. I agree with the others that your body is in "starvation mode" and therefore metabolising your food very slowly. Meanwhile, if you don't get enough Protein, your hair, nails, skin, etc., will begin to suffer. Try to get in a Protein Shake to add the calories & protein. I'm going the easy route for my shakes: 8oz milk, a pack of Carnation Instant Breakfast & Protein Powder.< /p>

Being wide open at night (free for all!!!) is a wonderful time to supplement with a large Protein Shake blended with a banana and ice. The icy drink will help you feel restricted, and the shake will help fill you up. Perhaps try that an hour after your dinner, or use it before hand if it doesn't keep you from eating your real food.< /p>

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
