I happened to see that on the news just last night. Makes me wonder about the promotion I just recently got. I hope when im at goal its noticed with a raise, lol! But on a serious note, it saddens me that people are judged by their weight and not merit.

I believe it. I have been on so many job interviews in the last year and I know my weight plays a huge factor in my not getting the jobs. I can't wait to interview again in a few months!

It hasn't proved true for me - yet, but I was also hired for my (well-paying) position before I gained weight. Women in general face more pressures to look a certain way, to be both attractive AND professional, and fat just isn't considered attractive. I know for a fact that my husband hasn't gotten at least one job he applied for a few years back because he's heavy. Off the record, one of the interviewers told him the boss was very health conscious and didn't think my hubby would fit into the "culture" of the company.

Hey pdx-

I got a job offer this week. I interviewed when I was pre-op. Turns out they did want to hire my old fat self. :tongue2:

I have been unemployed off and on for 2 years, made 100+ applications, and had 15+ interviews without offers. I don't know what to believe about how much my obesity is linked to my lack of ob joffers. There hasn't been this type of recessionbefore, but I also have never weighed this much, so it's hard to sort out the real cause. Part of my decision to go for WLS has to do with being age 61, 243 pounds, and unemployed. While being a normal weight won't get me a job I'm not qualified for, it will boost my confidence so I am my best self at future interviews.

I DEFINITELY believe theres some truth to this article, because for the last year and a half I've been also landing a lot of interviews but not the job. That's one reason why I NEED this surgery. It would definitely assist the process and also make a healthier me

I just received the biggest raise in over 5 years! The first thing that came to mind is

they think I am doing a great job now that I have lost weight? Because in my mind

I am doing the same job as always, giving it my all every year.

I've noticed this trend for sure. I have 3 degrees, and can't get entry level jobs. I've beenstuck in a temp position for over a year now. I know part of it is when my size 22 suit hals into their office, all they see are dollar signs drifting out the door and into my doctors lap, even though I'm pretty healthy other than my weight. It's sick really. Too bad it can't be proven.

It will never be proven because lawsuits would leave companies bankrupted from discrimination and that's "bad" for the economy

FAFSA probably has statistics to support our suspicions.

My size has grown so that recently I am now beginning to see shock in people's faces. For example, I was reuinted with a HS friend I'd not seen in 30 years. I warned her on the phone that I was obese and not to be surprised. When I opened the door, she did not drop her jaw. However, the eyes gave her away. I saw her eyes open wide as half dollars as she took a look at me.

The second time this happened was in a job interivew. When the supervisor came out of his office to shake hands, his body language was friendly but his eyes registered shock and his eyes opened up as big as half dollars, too.

It was as he was saying, "Wow, are you ever fat!" P.S. ( I got the job but later resigned. Another story for another time.)

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
