Hi, I'm a newbie. I'm having surgery on Wednesday & I need to know the best "tasting" Protein Powder out there! I want something that I can mix with sweet, like smoothies, & savory, like Soups, that doesn't corrupt the taste. Any suggestions???

You can get nectar at Sams Club too a bit cheaper. But I prefer Isopure which you can get at GNC. It has zero carbs and dissolves a lot better then Nectar. Just add a little Crystal Light to it.

I have been using Body Fortress whey Protein Isolate in vanilla Cream from Walmart because of the price and it only has 2 carbs when mixed with Water. Add lots of sugar free pudding mix and splenda and it's good. However, the last time I went, they are no longer carrying the Isolate, so I had to get the Body Fortress Whey Protein in chocolate. Costs less, but has more carbs and it is absolutely revolting. The texture and aftertaste is much much worse than the isolate I was using before. So, my advice for sweet shakes is to go for a brand of whey isolate. Something about it makes it much more palatable (and better for you). HTH

I bought Unjury unflavored, i have mixed it with everything and so far its been easy to mix, doesnt add a bad taste and smoothes really well. Dunno after surgery. I also bought Isopure. It tastes ok.

I just tried the chocolate and the vanilla. It's actually really good.

Chike Stawberry Burst is the best I've ever tasted and I've tried several to test out.

Syntha 6 chocolate milkshake is good too. I got mine online but they sell it at GNC.< /p>

I use the nectar brand as well. No Carbs, 100 Calories, and 23g Protein. THe chocolate Truffle is my favorite, but Vanilla is good too :-)

Hi.. I am a newbee as well. My surgery is on Dec. 30th. I am on protien drinks right now- Baressentials. I am so tired of sweet tasting powders. Once surgery is over, I will definitley want something that I can mix into non-sweet foods. I see many post Isopure and Unjury-(unflavored) are there any additional non-sweet one's out there. How about the protien bullets? Looking for greativity in the use of those as well.

Let me recommend something to you. Everyone has different tastes and likes.

Most Protein "mix" manufacturers will send you sample packs. Syntrax, unjury, Chike, etc.....will all send you sample packs. Some charge a fee for each packet and you can pick and choose.....others just make you pay for shipping. This way you can not only sample the different brands....but also the flavors within them.

Then when you find a flavor or two that you love.....you can save money by order a large tub of it.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
