Oh I just love Dr. Kirk!! Who's doing your surgery? I had Varnell and love him! Work was okay yesterday. I had to go to the nurses office and lay down around noon. I'm still very sore but the weight is dropping off! Good luck and let us know how it goes!!!!

I'm using Dr. Katsis. Take it easy & don't overdo it.

Katsis is the one who released me from the hospital. He was a hoot! Bailey is such a great hospital with wonderful Dr's and staff!

Thanks so much cumbie! I'm loving this info!!

It's so great to know what to expect as far as the surgeons orders. Each surgeon is so different I've been reading!

I do have a patient advocate-- Marsha/- but I haven't spoken to her yet. I've only really been in touch with Trevor so far... He's been very helpful

Did you have to lose a certain amount of weight before surgery date?

Sent from my iPhone using VST

Marsha is my patient advocate also! Have you seen her before and after photo? Amazing, and just one year it took! I only had 13 pounds to lose (5%of my body weight, weighing 266.).

I'd avoid anything north of Admiral, east of Mingo (above 51st), and west of the river (above 51st). The area west of Southern Hills Country Club is pretty bad. Hip areas include Brookside, Downtown, Cherry Street (15th Street), and the Pearl District. In suburban areas, midtown has more crime than far southern areas. You can get just about anywhere in town in 20 minutes. I love Tulsa!

I'm so excited for Whole Foods to open on my end of town! Are you looking for an apartment? There are some apartments and condos about a mile and a half away at 91st by my tennis club, The Grand. I'm blanking out on the cross street, but it's close to Riverside. I don't rent, so I couldn't tell you prices, but I had two friends who have lived in the complex behind the club. They've both moved out of town though. Let me know if you have any other questions. Will the Whole Foods have the hot food bar? Fingers are crossed...I hate cooking!

Had my surgery 7/30 with Dr Walton at Weight Wise. I live in far south OKC/ almost Moore. Staff and doctors are fabulous! Most of the staff has had the surgery themselves. Had a great experience through the entire process. 2 1/2 weeks post op and feel amazing and down 19 pounds!

That's great. I'm so excited and nervous. I have insurance but it won't cover the actual surgery. I know they will work with me and help I'm just hoping I can actually do this. Congratulations on the weight loss!

Same here. BCBS didn't cover my surgery either. I can tell you this though, you will SAVE money on the amount of food you no longer buy/consume! I am already seeing that! The first few days were tough for me, some pain, mourning food, questioning if I did the right thing. I think the majority if people have these thoughts at first. The two week of liquids after surgery is no fun!! You just want something to chew, lol. After those two weeks though it is MUCH MUCH better! You can do it! If you ever have questions or need to talk, just message me anytime!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
