Any Oklahoma Sleevers

Recommended Posts

Hey guys! My name is Angela and I'm in the beginning stages of my sleeve journey. I'm going through Dr Walton at the Weightwise Bariatric Clinic. I've had my initial consult with him, my blood work and my EKG. Currently waiting on my sleep study.

I was 380.5 at my initial weigh in and almost passed out. I knew I was heavier than I've ever been but I had no idea I'd gotten that bad.

So here I am, trying to lose 38lbs as quickly as possible. I work in retail so my busiest time of the year is quicky approaching and I can't take time off after mid-November. I'm trying like crazy to hit that goal by mid-October so I can have the surgery the first week of November. If I don't, I'll have to wait until January. The sooner I can do this, the better.

Skimming through this thread, I see several folks have used the same clinic. Any advice? Concerns? How strict are they with that pre-op? Like, let's say I lost 30 by my goal date, would they go ahead and schedule me?

I've rambled on enough. Lol! Looking forward to getting to know some of you folks and having some online support. :-)

Hi Angela, I had my sleeve with dr Walton on 9/2/14. Hope your surgery goes as well as mine did, I've had no problems. I love all the staff at weight wise. I'm sure you'll do much better than me you're younger and smarter :) wish I would have done this years ago.

Had my EGD on Monday, which was my last requirment. It went well. Scheduled to see my surgeon on 10/16 and hope to have my actual surgery date by end of October / first of November. I have Medicare so I did not have to have the 6 month nutrition classes. So super excited. Getting so anxious, a little nervous about infections but I have faith that everything will be fine. :)

It really does get exciting, plus a little nerve racking right before your surgery. I was lucky, they called me on a Friday and said they had an opening for the following Tuesday so I didn't have very much time to worry :). I'm sure your surgery will go great, just do everything they tell you to do and you'll do good.

Thanks Sherrie. I don't have a spleen so I'm very prone to infections. But I have in my Doctor s and hospital.

Dr Hamilton Le did my surgery and it went fantastic. All of the staff are so wonderful and helpful. They have support groups that meet at Baptist hospital. Go to his website to get more info.

I was off a total of 10 days. Never had any problems just felt a little bit tired the first week back. When did you have your surgery?

Dr Walton is my doctor. I love my patient advocate, Tori. I've emailed her just about daily and she's been so supportive.

Definitely feel like I made the right choice in clinic and Dr!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
