Hi all!

I was sleeved on January 10! YAY! Things have been going ok so far. I couldn't do many of the Protein Shakes that I tried. I settled on Syntrax Nectar, which is pretty good! But I am ready to be done with this phase and move to soft foods. Good luck to all of you! Let me know if I can answer any questions for you!

I love reading all the different experiences. Most of you sound like it was relatively painless. I call Friday between 4-7pm (read 4:00 on the dot!) to find out my arrival time for Monday January 23rd. I am so excited to begin the journey back to the skinny me. :Banane55:

I'm glad everyone is doing well. I want to find someone in my area, Sullivan County, NY.

HI EVERYONE! I was sleeved on Monday in Illinois. So far my experience has been exceptional! My only pain is when I drink (all liquid diet) I get a painful spasm but it only last 5 seconds or so and my tummy gurgles. I just figure my tummy is lettin me know thst it is mad at me but I tell it "it is to make you more healthy and say goodbye to diabetes. It will thank me in the long run LOL

I am day one of my liquid diet.. and you know what it sucks! LOL I thought I was so prepared but apparently I wasn't ready I thought I didn't need a food funeral but I feel like I should have had one.. HA HA...

My surgery is Wednesday 25 Jan and I hope I can make it through without biting the heads off of my family who have to endure grumpy me looking at them while they eat spaghetti and I sip on chicken broth.. Maybe I should get a room for the week all to myself...

Looking forward to the surgery, stocked up on Soups and broth today, went shopping for needed things for the hospital stay ... now I am just trying to occupy myself so I don't go in the kitchen and ravish the left over spaghetti.. :D Wish me Luck!

Good luck everyone, I love reading your stories successes and struggles.. It is so nice to be able to connect with people going through the same thing

I'm the 25th too!! I had my IVC filter placed today. On the way home from the hospital i found out that no one made any plans for dinner(without me telling them what to do) so we stopped to get pizza and brought it home. I hadn't eaten since yeserday and now i was riding post surgrey with a fresh/warm pizza on my lap it took alot of will power but did not touch it! I had my Protein Drink and applesauce.

MTC, just curious, why did they have to place an IVC filter? My doc is going to use Venadyne boots during/after surgery to prevent clots. Good job, sticking to your plan, that was a tough one.

Well I'm sleeved! yesterday was the first day to my new life! Surgery went great! hardly had pain, got up and walked around by 4ish, did that a few more times, eating ice chips and doing well.

Today us a different sorry, though! I'm sore and have a hard time taking deep breaths. Can't do the same stuff I was doing yesterday but I was able to eat a small piece of Jello. No buyers remorse here!

Congrats EM!

Heather F, I am on day four of the 14 day liquid diet. Day 2 was the worst! I warned my co-workers and my kids that I might get grumpy so please ignore me if I do. I made it a point not to have anything scheduled to do other than work and church during these two weeks. I keep telling myself that it is important to do what the doctor says because if I am trusting him to do surgery on me, I am going to trust that he knows what he is talking about with the pre-op diet. Oh, but its hard! And I did have a semi-food funeral.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
