the heating pad will help wonders for your neck and shoulder. Also deep breathing. They will help absorb the gas faster and then the pain will go away. you can also try to sleep with the head of the bed elevated slightly. If you didnt take a heating pad ask a nurse for some warm blankets to tuck under your back and around your neck

Sorry to hear about your knee! is your leg from the knee down cold to touich or normal?

Congrats!!!

I did not hear you say anything about pain meds...I assume you are on those??

If so, take regularly for the first few days, if not, talk to your doc...it will also help you relax and get some sleep...

also...WALK, WALK, WALK, WALK!!!!

Every day gets better!!!

The gas pain in my shoulder was so bad. Finally my BF rubbed it really hard and after that it seemed to seperate and dissappear, I have no idea if that's why but boy did I feel better. I agree you should be walking, it helps. I loved my electric blanket in the very beginning, it helped me through many nights of discomfort. Also, I slept in my recliner, It really helped to be sitting up vs. laying down all the way. Good Luck, you will start feeling better in no time.

WALK! It will help to break up the gas. Believe it or not it is gas in your next and shoulder from all the gas they pumped into your tummy. I know your knee hurts but try to get up and move around. I had trouble sleeping too, I was afraid I would move in my sleep and I was sure moving would hurt worse. Actually I found it didn't. I had my surgery late on a Friday and on Monday my wife and I went to the Mall shopping. I was tired when I got home, but I felt much better as lots of the crampy pains went away with the walking. I also had the best sleep since the day before surgery that night.

You will feel pretty yucky for most of this week, but by Christmas I bet you will be feeling MUCH better!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
