When getting up out of bed, roll over on your side as much as possible and put your weight on your arms.

The idea about a pillow is a good one.

I got an abdomen support belt (like warehouse workers, etc. wear) from Walmart. It is a wide (~ 5-6") and closes with velcro fasteners. I wore the belt 7X24 for the first month. It really helped getting up from the bed or recliner, bending over, getting in and out of the car, etc.

I couldn't bear the pain rolling on my side. i decided to sleep in the recliner my first night at home. I wonder if I am more sore because i was a revision and they had to do alot of adhesion cleanup. It never even occured to me to try one of those belts,I wonder if that is okay even though I have drains.

The trick with rolling is, as you roll, you actually use the arm under you (bent at 90 degree angle) to push up at the same time so that you never actually put your weight on your side.. I used this technique with 3 c-sections and my VSG!

Good luck and know that each day gets better!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
