It's Really Happening.....less Than A Week Until My Gastric Sleeve Surgery

Recommended Posts

I am less than a week away from being sleeved...OMG!!! I'm so nervous right now!!! I had to tell my students that I won't be here for their finals... they want to know why... I told them I'm going to the hospital and they are a little freaked out!! Nice to know that they care, after complaining about me being hard on them all the time...

The first day of the liquid diet was so HARD... I had a headache and I was little grouchy.... but, I do believe it all will be worth it!!!

I've made my list for my hospital bag, my groceries for the next month and the books I'm going to read!

I'm also going to go buy new sneakers, get my hair, toes and eyebrows done!! (Gotta look cute for my visitors!!)

My BF who will be at the hospital w/ me has the list of folx to call/text when I'm out of surgery and I'm praying she doesn't hide my laptop and cell phone... she's threatened as much... So, I'm going to try and be really good!! LOL...

I know being nervous is normal, but OMG... I have 203 million things running through my head!!!! How do I make it STOP??!!!??!!

You will do great! Calm down.....breath......LOL! Best advice I can give you is not to expect to wake up and be at your goal weight. ;) This was something I did unknowingly so when I wasn't loosing as fast as everyone else I was really discouraged. Take your time to heal. I over did it the first week out. Pulled internal stitches hurt like H E double L and I have nerve damage now that may or may not heal over time so DO NOT OVER DO IT!

I'm so very excited for you!

favoredone,

I am having a tough time with the liquid diet too! Day 6 here cause I have to do it for two weeks. If I thinks about it too much the surgery and the anticipation it feels like I am vibrating on the inside. See you in the OR sleep dreams on the 19th! Going to see the suegeon today, and have to get last blood work done. Trying to get everything ready for christmas too

PS no surprise you students like you, the tough ones make you believe in yourself! :)

Soforreal and Longer-life I appreciate it!!! I still have so much to do!!! One of my friends came over and cleaned/organized my house.. from top to bottom while I was at work!!!.

I'm so grateful for her!!! I need to find a nice comfy, fluffy robe for my walks while I'm in the hospital. And then I think I'm all set!!!

I have to spend tomorrow afternoon at the hospital for pre-op tests... and I have to fast until after the tests.... So, pray my strength!!

Less than a week already? Wow time sure does fly!!!

Miss Lady you are going to be a force, I have no doubt. I totally agree with Julie, please note - the weight most likely won't fall off as quickly as you'd like. Hey if it does, more power to you!! That would be awesome! Just know, don't beat yourself up or feel like a failure if it doesn't. Just come here for support and Celebrate your losses no matter how much or how little. Every single pound lost is forever and is just as deserving of happiness as any others!

I'm praying for you!! Please PLEASE check in as soon as you can! I will be lookin out for that. Okay - and like I always say... Sip, Walk, Rest and Repeat.

WHOOOOTTT!!! Oh yeah, I'm savin this seat right here next to me on the losers bench for ya. ;)ciappa.gif

You are going to do great. The time will fly and before you know it you are waking up the morning of surgery. Like Diva said, Walk walk walk walk, rest rest rest rest, repeat repeat repeat repeat.

You will be in my prayers.

I totally understand. My date is the 28th and I can't decide if I am nervous, scared, excited or all of the above. I start the pre-op diet tomorrow and that is going to be tough. You will do great and I'm praying for you. Good Luck!!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
