Mind Playing Tricks. Anybody Have Any Regrets After Having Gastric Sleeve Surgery?

Recommended Posts

It is so normal to feel anxious about having surgery and drasticly changing your life. Knowing that, it is sometimes easier to get through this pre surgery time by over planing and scheduling. Keeping busy will help the time move faster and to remember to keep your eyes on your goals with their end results. Best wishes

WOW! Does anyone NOT feel nervous? I am actually not worried or stressed. It took a long time for me to make this decision and when i finally did it i felt like a boulder had been lifted off me. The doc is AWESOME, the hospital is amazing and the staff is wonderful. Is anyone else feeling like this?

I am having to comfort my husband becuase he is nervous (just about the procedure itself) I am excited and confident and actually PREPARED! I know for a few days after it will hurt like haitis but im looking forward to after. Besides my hypothyroidism that we cant seem to get medicated properly for i am pretty healthy. No diabetes, high blood pressure nothing. So i am hoping that that will be in my favor on the operating table!

Just wanted to wish you good luck!! I think it's totally normal to be a basket case...I think I'd be concerned if you weren't a little nervous! This is such a positive step towards good health...I don't think you'll have any regrets.

I wasn't nervous about the surgery or surgeon but was nervous about if I could handle it. The night after surgery, I sobbed that I made a huge mistake and it hurt too much. I was bloated and swollen from all the gas they pump in and I felt like I had the surgery just to get fatter.

I swear to you it passed. Day 1 postop was better. Day 2 was even better. It's day 5 now and while I'm still struggling to get in all the fluids and calories they want me to get in, it's lightyears better than it was that day.

I think I was nervous that I wouldn't know how to replace food in my life and it is something I'm struggling with right now post op. But the surgery itself wasn't scary to me. I think I had so many health problems that I just wanted to feel better and this was my best chance.

I wasn't too nervous before surgery though like others, I would have brief periods of questioning such a life-altering decision. My surgery and recovery went extremely well, but I did have a bit of a breakdown at about 2-3 weeks out because of the nutrition limitations at that point on my plan. This site was a huge help to me as I could read about all the other 'veteran' sleevers who got past the tough stages and were leading normal, healthy and THIN lives!!

I started this whole procedure in Jan of 2011 and then I backed out. I decided to hire a personal trainer, start eating right and go to the gym regularly. I am starting all over again in December and I am kicking myself for thinking I could do it without the sleeve. I would have been sleeved by now. I had the overwhelming feeling I was going to die in February so I left my program sad.png Oh well better late then never right?

I think the final full out push to do it yourself was a good thing. You know going in this is it. Keep with the personal trainor if you can, I have one - but that is for exercize and she helps me not to push myself too far. The weight (and she agrees) is for me to deal with. She has clients that she has trained for years and never fell out of the 30% BMI's. I think she would like to push the weight issue more, but she just wants you to exercize and keep active and doesn't want to push people away from the gym.

For me the weight is not related to my activity levels, except it does limit what my body can endure. Going by what I lift, I should be able to do a pull up at about 180-200 lbs. I want that pull up soooo bad! lol.

and YES! I am CrAzY nervous, lol.

I have been so excited about getting everything together for the process to begin then I had a FREAK OUT moment at 4am the other night. I woke up in a panic thinking "what if something happens and my babies don't have a momma anymore??" "What if I go through all of this and nothing changes??" (like with allllll my other attempts to lost weight) What if....what if....what if!!!! Then I started thinking about all of the positive changes that can happen. Being able to buy clothes that I like and not just b/c they fit! Being able to play sports again without running out of breath 5 min into a game! And the biggest motivation for me...being around longer for my kids. It would be really nice to be in smaller sizes but my main concern is to be healthy so my family will have me around longer.

So for me weighing out the pros and cons is how I get through all of the 'what if's'!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
