Help: Need Crunchy Snacks To Munch On

Recommended Posts

depends how far out. at 4 weeks I liked tortilla chips and nuts. Now Protein Bars. Don't be afraid of carbs, need before exercising and to keep stamina. your plate should be 1/4 carbs. I still have 1/2 baked potato with a steak.

I like almonds as well. Sam's sells a huge bag of them for about $9. Amazon also has some cheese chips that are crunchy. I'm not sure what the brand is, but they are in a yellow bag. Search for cheese chips on the site and you'll find them. I also like baked cheetos sometimes for the crunchy stuff.

Ritz also makes a mini cracker which is pretty good with Peanut Butter on it. I can only eat a couple of them, but they satisfy the need for crunch for me. I also eat pickles sometimes for the same reason.

I love Golden Flake Sweet Heat Barbaque pork skins. YUMMM sweet and spicy and not too bad on the calories. I also do nuts.

Parmesan crisps - I love the salty cheesy flavor. These only come out nice and crispy if you use freshly grated Parmesan, though, and since the cheese is the only ingredient you're better off investing in a nice, quality wedge.

I love the Kashi crackers and can only eat 4 or 5 at a time, even at nearly 17 months out.

I'd be careful, though. popcorn is my favorite salty/crunchy snack and it definitely slides. I can eat far more than need to be eating in one sitting!

I love almonds, they satisfy a lot of cravings. My downfall was always the salty, crunchy foods. Two things I really like that satisfies that are 365 Veggie Straws, which I get from Whole Foods, and Special K's cracker chips, especially the sour cream and onion ones. They are both lightly salted, and you can eat a good quantity of them for about 110 calories.

oh my gosh tortilla chips and nuts at 4 weeks? that is giving me a panic attack just thinking about it, My NUT said I cant have anything but mushies till 8 weeks, the only semi solid I can have is deli meat or Canned chicken, I would love some rotisserie chicken about right now but she said not till 8 weeks I dont think they are ever going to let me have tortilla chips, I am at 3 weeks and would love to go order a meat burrito and just eat part of the inside not the shell but I am too afraid...

My favorites are pistachios (I usually have 10 at about 4 calories each) and Kay's Naturals Crispy Parmesan Protein chips. They are about 110 calories per oz. and have 10 grams of soy protein. The chips aren't the type of food to be making a meal out of, but I find that 1/2 oz. really satisfies my cravings for a crispy snack.< /p>

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
