dominique 34 Posted December 7, 2011 I've noticed the tickers on people's posts and checked into them. Then I saw where one person said she had no goal weight. And I realized that I didn't have one either. I am 228 pounds now. My highest weight was 236. My first goal is to be below 200. My next goal is to be 179 or lower. I haven't been that thin in 20 years. At this time I feel like I cannot dream of being below 179. I've tried to lose weight for so long that it seems like an impossible goal to not only go below 179 but to stay below 179. The idea is overwhelming. So for right now I'm going to take baby steps. I'll worry about 179 when I get there.
sasicas 194 Posted December 7, 2011 That is a very wise choice. SOmetimes people get too focused on hitting a goal set by themselves or their surgeons. I did set a goal, it was a soft goal though, I wasn't obsessed with hitting it and was amazed when I did though My only REAL goal that I knew I would accomplish was to be below 200 lbs. I did want to be a size 8 but again, something I never really thought was all that realistic and again amazed when I hit it and surpassed it. I really feel these surgeries should be much more about how we feel than some number we think we need to be at.
Rev Me Up! 75 Posted December 8, 2011 I made up my goal. I took a weight that was in the middle of the healthy weight range, based on my BMI. I also kept in mind times in my life when I was slimmer and did a reality check on the healthy weight number. You may want to consider having a lower weight to aim for - you are going to be shocked at how the weight will fall off of you :-) Good luck!!
coops 1,790 Posted December 8, 2011 I agree with sasicas... it might be a blessing in disguise not having a goal weight. Personally I have let the scales bully me and it has been horrible! I have dropped the attention of the scale for the time being and I am focusing on 'living' and enjoying the weight loss that I have had so far. I will re-evaluate in Jan, but for now I am just enjoying the new lighter and fitter me. I think you will know when you are in a good place due to how you feel...
