Thomas CPA 496 Posted December 7, 2011 Two days. I went in on Thursday and was to be released Saturday, I stayed until Sunday because I wasn't drinking Water so the doctor took off the IV which made me thirsty.
Shae 44 Posted December 7, 2011 Every surgeon is different in the requirements but from what I have learned here, you can expect anywhere from one to five nights depending on the surgeon, insurance, how you are doing, etc. My hospital stay was two nights and I was sleeved at a military hospital. Your surgeon should be able to give you a better idea of what he/she requires. I did hear from a friend of a friend that someone they know had it done on an outpatient basis but I don't know if I believe that or not. I know the LapBand can be done outpatient but I don't think the sleeve can be since it is so much more involved. I hope this helps. Shae
Britgal 2 Posted December 7, 2011 I had a two night stay and felt I needed it. The first 24 hours you can't have anything by mouth so it was good having the hospital staff be at your beck and call as needed. I also had a Hiatal Hernia repair so had some pain. The second night was so much better and I was ready to go home the next day.
