Colonics For Vsg Related Constipation?

Recommended Posts

I'm at a month out now (woohoo!), and I have not gone #2 in over a week (boohoo!)- I've tried everything to be recommended: Miralax, Sodium Ducosate, coffee, lots of Water, olive oil, hot baths, massage, jogging...nada. It's there, but it's not moving..if you know what I mean.

My surgeon is 3 hours away, and I cannot go visit him. I can see my general MD (I do not have insurance though), and I figured perhaps a colonic may be the best option.

Has anyone else done this with success?

I'm so happy with my weight loss, but being this backed up has me fearing for my life. I don't know how else to get things moving.

...Or for a cheaper at home option, enemas?

I am worried about my safety, a week with no bowel movement in sight is a bit concerning.

It'll get moving soon enough, I wouldn't worry too much unless you are in pain or uncomfortable. I don't go as often as I used to as well and used to worry about it, but now I just go with the flow. I realized that I'm taking in a lot less food and it takes a while for that little bit of food to bulk up enough for your body to get rid of it. As you begin to eat more foods in bigger quantities, your output will probably increase too.

I'm not a doctor, but that's what my doc told me when I questioned him about it.

I would only recommend an enema or colonic if you feel constipated. If not, let nature take it's course. It will eventually.

I usually eat 2 Fiber one bars and something is bound to move within a few hours. But a couple weeks ago, after about a week of forgetting to eat my Fiber one bars, nothing seemed to work and I was super uncomfortable and it was 10 o'clock at night. (TMI warning) DH rushed off to the local Walmart and came back with an enema and chocolate flavored ex-lax. I opted for the enema. Worked in seconds. I have noticed that alot of folks say less in so less out, well boy oh boy that was not the case with me. I definately needed the assitance.

Hope TMI was not too bad.

Worked in seconds?! Thats what I would love to happen. I don't think there is too much TMI when it comes to surgery that affects your digestive system- it's important for us to talk about it openly to help each other and others!

Sleeve Wonderland- my doctor said a similar thing, and seems not to be too worried about the lack of bowel movements. My concern is that I am aware I am constipated and there is stuff that needs to come out, and I just want to make sure I'm not potentially harming myself and my system will know how to make things move when it naturally should.

I am going to try the enema, my doctor e-mailed me back and referred to colonics as a "scam" (LOL), I do see a gentle enema being a much financially friendly option, not to mention gentler, in the meantime.

I eat prunes on a daily basis to keep things moving naturally. If you like raisins, you'll love prunes. Of course, Water is a big thing and my biggest struggle. But, occasionally, I do have problems and that is when I reach out to MOM. (Milk of Magnesia)

I've tried everything but prunes, MOM, and enemas...the people at Rite Aid see me every day now, lol!

I will give all those a go, my surgeon seems to feel things will eventually flow normally and the 7+ days is normal on fluids and puréed food.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
