RLittman 4 Posted July 24, 2006 When can you resume exercise after banding? I have a nice little routine going these past three weeks and have actually gained a little more stamina. I know I should walk post-op to ease gas, etc. but are there restrictions about exercise? I haven't seen any in my post-op materials.
LapBandit 5 Posted July 25, 2006 My doc said go for it. If you feel like you can do it then try it out. I'd just be really careful the first few days back into action. If it's a treadmill or a similar activity then you're most likely fine. If you're weight-lifting or something like that then just pay attention to your body and stop if it doesn't feel right. But, that's just my opinion and what my doc said...if you're not sure, you may want to check with your doc.
Jachut 487 Posted July 25, 2006 I was walking the next day, we got home from the hospital and went out and walked 2-3kms (about half an hour, so a nice gentle walk). I did that for a few weeks before I got back into the gym, and from then on, I progressed very quickly.
jlm20639 0 Posted July 25, 2006 I was instructed to start walking right away. Due to nature of my job, which involves a lot of walking and standing, I was just to take it easy for the first two weeks, and no lifting things that wieghed more the 10 lb. After two weeks I could start on the treadmill, but slowly. Nothing strenous for the first six weeks. Even cleaning house burns calories, so it's all good. Tricia K. 0 Posted July 25, 2006 My surgeon said that walking was fine, but anything strenuous was a no-no for the first 8 weeks. After 8 week, the sky was the limit. Also, during the first month, I was told not to lift more than 20 pounds. Because every experience is individual, you may wish to give your surgeon a call to inquire about his limitations/instructions.
