I don't get this whole carbs thing. I decided I wasn't going to worry about carbs and all that (I only eat "good" carbs anyways), but then once I started tracking my foods online and saw how many carbs I was eating It sounded like so many.

I ate 1/2 a sandwich thin for Breakfast and 1 corn tortilla at lunch some milk and juice and it added up to 83 carbs and I have only consumed 600 calories. I saw where others were trying to stay under 20 or so.

Is this really something I need to be worrying about (as if I don't have enough with worrying about Proteins, Water, vitamins)?

Oh-I am only three weeks out, but allowed to eat anything except fresh veggies, dry meats, Pasta, or rice.

I don't do low carb. I do however make sure I eat at least 80 grams of protien a day!I feel like my weight loss has been fantastic and I eat 100 carbs or so a day. So it works for me!

I was also confused about this. I have asked my doc about it multiple times and he always says they don't have carb, calorie restrictions. He says if you follow the rules of bariatric surgery you shouldn't have to. So that's what I have done and lost over 50 lbs in 3 months! Good luck!

i refuse to keep track of anything. I eat my Protein first, then fruit/veg and if I have room I have some carbs. It's works well for me.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
