Cigars After Gastric Sleeve Surgery?

Recommended Posts

I like this topic. I don't smoke them a lot, but would like to partake in the enjoyment of a nice cigar and adult beverage.

I don't inhale, so not sure how this could really affect post op... thoughts? Anyone really know answer?

Just got some Gurka Widow Makers (nice name)...MY wife bought them.. LOL

Cigars and cigarettes aren't the same. People tend to smoke cigarettes at any time of the day for any reason. However I nice cigar isn't enjoyed as frequent. Plus there's more of an art/refinement to cigars, like whiskey.

I smoked ****** a few days after my surgery. It was enjoyable.

Moderation is always key.

Any update on this? I'm 15 days out of surgery and would like to smoke one for Father's Day. Did it cause nausea or anything?

No worries....

I'm 6 weeks after op and I love my cigars ~!

IMO: smoking seems to be alright (although doctors say that it can cause stomach ulcers),

the problem is drinking... realised I can no longer chug, but sip....

So a nice Cohiba Robusto with a nice glass of whiskey from the low lands of Scotland....

what can I say... Life couldnt be better

I miss my Friday and Saturday night cigars with a nice glass of whiskey (or 3), actually I miss the whiskey that goes with it. Now that I'm home all day I find myself having about 1 - 2 cigars a day while relaxing on my balcony.

I haven't noticed any ill effects as I maintain my liquids, Protein and I walk 3-4 miles daily

That sounds so good. I'm 10 days out so the whiskey is out i guess but I'm really wanting a cigar.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
