TheNewMe2011 1 Posted December 3, 2011 the first 3 days of the surgery i was thrilled that i dont feel hungry any more. Now it has been 5 days after surgery. I am 9 pounds down. I still feel hungry at times. I can drink without any problems. I was hoping the hunger part won't be an issue

Lisa821 29 Posted December 3, 2011 I've read articles and talked to sleevers who mention "head hunger" and "true hunger". They said immediately after surgery u feel head hunger. Your brain wants u to eat, which means your old habits are speaking not true hunger which happened preop when u haven't eaten in 4 hours. Another confusion with hunger that I've heard about is when a sleevers has gas or acid or bloating. In those cases a sleevers needs advice from the doctor on an acid reducer or how to use over the counter gas reducers. Our doctors and nutritionists are wonderful resources on this topic. longer-life 139 Posted December 3, 2011 I get hungry too but it is normal for some of us at this stage. I have read here that we will feel restriction once we start eating dense Protein like chicken and eggs. Make sure you are drinking all day long so you get as close as possible (or reach) your surgeons requirements for Protein and fluids. This will take care of your hunger and nutrition. Some still get hungry after eating dense protein, but they say it takes very little food to satisfy that hunger and that is music to my ears. I'm not worried. I think we will be fine. :-)
TheNewMe2011 1 Posted December 4, 2011 thanks all for replying. well ... i can sip one ounce in 10 no problem. i am not sure if that is good or bad. i also can not get in all my fat, Protein, and carbs. i wonder if that will slow the loosing part!! i was even able to eat a soft cream cheese and blue cheese today and i am only 6 days out. i know i should be on liquids but different doctors have different diets i wonder if that will hurt my sleeve in future! well .. it did not hurt today!! longer-life 139 Posted December 4, 2011 Even though I am starting to eat some real foods, there is no way I could meet my minimum daily requirements of Protein and fluids. My surgeon told me continuing with the Protein Shakes is a must this early out. Hope this answers your question.

CT Fats 82 Posted December 4, 2011 Early out after surgery your body still has residual ghrelin(hunger hormone) it will get better. And I had no problem with fluids at first but as I healed my restriction got better and I am on the sipping slowly train.
