Myvsg 0 Posted December 3, 2011 I am scheduled to have a VSG on december 20. On december 1, i had to get an emergency left ovary remova surgery because of ovary cyst twisted (ovary torsion) and severe lower left abdominal pain. My vsg surgeon says it is still ok to do my vsg on dec 20. Did any one had two abdominal surgeries within three weeks like this? Any thoughts or suggestions. I am little worried now for vsg. YoYo53 0 Posted December 3, 2011 Yes--I had 2 major surgeries (in many ways even more major than a VSG) in a 3 week span and I recovered well all things considered. My situation was complicated by infection, and I still did fine. If you seem to be recovering well from the ovarian surgery (I assume it was laparoscopic?) with no infection then the second surgery should be without significant increase in risk. I am a firm believer it is more mind over matter -- unless there is an infection which I have never been able to "wish" away! Best of luck.
Happy Camper 266 Posted December 3, 2011 I had my VSG then developed abscess where my drain was located and had to go back under for surgery to remove within 2.5 weeks. I did find I was glad I had been working my lungs with the breathing tool and getting out the yuk prior to my second surgery, which was through the ER. If you are still uncomfortable, I would call and see if you could talk with anastegiologist (sp?) and ask if they can share any info with you. Good luck. SKCUNNINGHAM 298 Posted December 3, 2011 One of my sisters had three laparoscopic surgeries in three days earlier this year (complications from gallbladder). The only issue with her was the recovery from three back to back times of being totally anesthized. You should be over the first bout of anasthesia, and with no lingering infections, you should be fine. Good Luck,
