10 Days Post Gastric Sleeve Op - Feeling Great! + Some Advice To People Feeling Down

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone, its been 10 days since my VSG and im feeling great. I lost 8 kilograms (approx 20 pounds) in the first week but then my weight loss stopped for four days which is absolutley normal so dont panic! The numbers on your scale might have stopped, temporarily of course, but your inches wont they will drop and fast. I try on my old clothes to make sure!

In regards to pain, I had the worst gas pain in the first couple of days and only found relief when i walked so for you new sleevers WALK WALK WALK thats the only way you'll feel better and will get some much needed excercise out of it too.

liquid dieting is tough i know but you just need to be strong and outlast it! its really worth it! Don't worry the hunger pain will also fade away as each day passes. You might feel some discomfort when swallowing liquids in the clear liquid phase of your diet and thats because the opening of your stomach is still swollen but you should feel better in a couple of days. It will go away.

Im in the full liquid diet phase now and believe me you will feel more like a normal person. Your energy will come back to you. I also can't wait to start going to the gym and work out! That will help a lot in avoiding excess "loose" skin.

Im married to a beautiful woman and have two wonderful boys, the eldest is three years and a 7 months old baby. They mean the world to me. They were the reason behind my VSG. Life is short and i want to cherish everyday with my family. I want to play with my boys without feeling exhausted i want to be able to carry them for more than just 2 minutes and i want to jog with my wife every morning and VSG has given this chance. The VSG is a powerful tool but its still just a tool which means the rest is up to you. Stick to the diet program and walk and you will get there.

Nausea, hunger pain, depression, missing food, lack of energy, feeling weak, light abdominal pain (bruising sensastion), back strain are ALL NORMAL post op symptoms of VSG. All of them fade away within the first 10 days to a month maximum.

Good luck to all of you and best wishes.

P.S

You can email me with any questions and i will be more than happy to answer you in as much detail as i can.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
