Bettina 0 Posted July 25, 2006 This book written by a Dr. claims chronic dehydration causes obesity, depression and cancer - http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0970245823/002-6746921-4982420?v=glance&n=283155Spooky huh? I really think years of drinking almost nothing but diet coke in my past directly affected my weight gain and my depression. I am feeling SO much better staying properly hydrated. Thanks for the link, looks like a good book. Going to the kitchen right now for Water...lol!:BeRightBack:
Bettina 0 Posted July 25, 2006 I dont believe a lot of the hype about Water - sure you need to drink Water and many people do not drink enough water, but once you are properly hydrated, any more is just excess, same as with taking Vitamins. Six to eight glasses a day (plus extra when you exercise, I usually get through a litre with a run) is enough for most people. Everyone feels and looks better when properly hydrated though - and you probably should drink before you're actually thirsty, but there's no need to force down gallons and gallons of it. The one thing I know to be true is that water is a must to keep your kidneys functioning properly! Ooops, I know two things...........it is imperative for good skin...15 years with a dermatologist taught me that... helps keep impurities from camping under your skin. I knew Water was good for your skin, wasn't sure why. I've always drunk a lot of water, and I've pretty much always had good skin.
Marimaru 7 Posted July 25, 2006 Christa, Firstly, just about NOTHING is TMI for most of the people around here . And dark pee is a sign of dehydration. Please do your best to get that color up. You will be peeing alot at first, but your body really will get used to it and you'll go less. Not as little as you are now, but less than the feeling of getting up to go right after you sat down, lol. I was dehydrated once a few years back when I had a bad kidney infection. They used 2 or 3 bags of Fluid on me when I went to the ER. My mom said she literally watched the color come back into my face. Be nice to your kidneys!!
