Gotten Off C Pap/bi Pap After Gastric Sleeve Surgery ?

I have to use a bi pap. Have any of you that are post op gotten off of your c pap or bi pap for good?

Most every person I know that has had WLS has gotten off their CPAP. I have not. My surgeon was quite disappointed over it too, according to him at least 90% of WLS people no longer deal with sleep apnea. According to my last read out from that stupid machine, my sleep apnea is just as bad now as it was 100+ lbs ago So another sleep study has been ordered just to confirm that it really is as bad still.

I'm sorry to hear that... I had sleep apnea prior to getting my tonsils and adenoids removed some years ago.. I wonder if it's being caused by inflamed nasal/sinus passages or something... I hope they figure it out...

I was diagnosed with sleep apnea in March when I had reached my highest weight of 283. I was sleeved in July, and one month later I was off my cpap! I feel amazing and sleep soundly every night now, so YES it is possible!!

Originally the ENT had suggested we just take the tonsils and adenoids out though they looked to be on the small side and unlikely to be the problem. The last ENT I saw said my tongue is too big. Craziness, if ya ask me.

Sasicas, do you have a thyroid condition? I was diagnosed with hypothyroid/hashimotos about 20 years ago. Some times with a thyroid condition, your tongue can become thick.
