Hey Irene....

I need help getting back on track. I have not completely gone off of radar but I have strayed more than I need to. I need something to keep me accountable. Is there a challenge going on? What is the best way to start back?

Hi look up the halloween challenge if you haven't already that really helps keep you accountable we just started.

Hello there, I read your achievements and felt such pride for you. I initally had banding, lost a good amount of weight, however for medical reasons the band was removed and after a healing time gastric sleeving done. The period post sleeve has been extremely stressful and although I have lost weight, I am constantly hungry and suffer from nausia and tiredness. Unfortunately this has lead to grazing all the time, I am still losing weight or maintaining the small loss that I have made. I am not sure what is going wrong, I lack motivation to exercise and my husband is less than supportive unfortanately as he has a passion to cook and tho he says nothing still continues to cook big meals and filling my plate when we have company. I know that I should only eat part of the plate however doing that embarrasses him and people start asking questions that he does not like me answering. Please help!!

Hi Miss Diva,

I am 8 months out and have been on the longest stall.....i'm thinking probably 2 months. I'm at the point where i'm afraid i will start gaining. I have lost 80lbs - which is awesome...but i am 45lbs away from my goal. I have stopped tracking what i eat....and am now starting to snack too often. I am not sure how to get back into the swing of things. Honestly - if it were possible - i'd do the surgery again - just so i'd have the same restrictions as i did when i first started.

I absolutely love this site - it has helped me so much through these past 8 months - but i am now feeling like a failure because i am no longer focused on loosing and paying attention and being accountable for what i put in my mouth.

Did you ever hear of anyone going through what i am going through? Even when i remind myself that i had most of my stomach removed...it doesn't inspire me to get back on track.

Any tips or kicks would be very much appreciated.

I was sleeved February 24 and have lost 86 pounds. I started at 285. My goal weight is 185. My problem is I have stalled for the last seven weeks. What do I do. Been going to the gym about five days a week. Alternate strength training and cardio. I keep my calories under 1200. Try to keep the carbs around 30-60. Ugh what do I do?

My surgery was July 25th, 2012. I've lost 40 pounds so far, but I know I could be doing better. I haven't started my work out routine, but I have set it up to begin with a trainer on September 17th. I have some questions, and I don't really have anyone to ask unless I keep calling the doctor. I don't want to bother her all of the time! First of all, I know I'm supposed to get 60-80 grams of Protein in a day. I drink Isopure, so I get 40 grams from one bottle. My dietician told me I could have one Isopure a day and get the rest of my protein from the food I eat during the day. That being said....how many times a day am I supposed to eat? It's hard for me to know because I'm not hungry most of the time, so I don't know if I should eat or not. I haven't been tracking, but after reading a lot of posts today it sounds like it would be a good idea for me to do.

I also started having some pretty bad swelling in my feet, ankles, and lower legs yesterday. I put my feet up last night, and the swelling went down a little overnight but not all of the way. Is this normal?

I'm open to any and all suggestions that will help make my journey a success. I thank each of you for sharing your stories. They are informative and inspiring!

Hi Metallialady :)

I'm so very sorry to hear your husband isn't more supportive of your efforts. Having this surgery is so difficult let alone having someone seeming to sabotage your efforts can make it so much worse.

The only thing I can really suggest to you in regards to this is telling him you will fill your own plate. As it is, each of us is really responsible for ourselves, aren't we? If he doesn't like it, well that's probably just going to have to be too bad. Don't allow others to make decisions for your, especially when it comes to your eating. It can be made into an excuse to continue on with bad habits, and being fresh out of surgery this is the very best time to break them.

Hi Heather!

Absolutely yes. To be honest what you are experiencing is far more common than you may think. Most just aren't as keen to want to admit this out in the public. Just know you are doing yourself a big favor by doing this though.

Whatever you do, do NOT beat yourself up. That's the quickest way to fall off the wagon. Feeling sorry for ourselves gives us an out to continue with our bad habits. Instead, pick your chin up and start doing the right thing RIGHT NOW! Don't wait until tomorrow or "Monday". I think you know what I mean. ;)

Log on to www.myfitnesspal.com and start logging your food. When I was in my losing mode I was at about 80-100g P; 60g Carbs and about 30% of my total calories came from fats. Send me a friend request, I'll be happy to follow your progress. The link to my profile is in my signature line.

Heya frodobaggins... btw I love your handle! I can't wait until December when The Hobbit comes out. ;)

Two things, the closer you get to your ideal weight = the harder it will be to get there. Your body's metabolism is slowing down greatly. It doesn't require nearly as many calories to run as it did when you were over weight.

To lose from here I suggest logging your food diligently, down to every bite. If you can lower your carbs for awhile that might help too. Try for a Maximim of 30g and see if that helps. Try that for about a week, and one last thing... how much Water are you getting in? I was drinking a minimum of 84 Oz of Water but stayed around 100-124 Oz when I was losing weight.

Well I hate to bust your bubble... but 40 Lbs in 5 weeks? That's pretty darn incredible. Here's what I think you should do: Give yourself a break. Be more kind to yourself. You have the rest of your life to lose the rest of the weight.

When it comes to WLS the best view is seeing the glass half full and having your rose colored shades on. ;)

Thankyou so very much for your advice, my surgery was actually on Jan 20th this year, hence why I am so very concerned at my husbands lack of support. He tells me that I am just a glutton and that is why I am/was fat. I will of course try to insist on dishing my own meals, however he gets so upset when I interfere in his cooking. Thank you again.

      Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
      1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

        All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

      I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
