I get cravings for a soda pop.

Hello,

I can drink a soda if i pour it out and let some of the fizz evaporate. There was a post on frozen marguerita's over the week end or this morining and the person said that it might have numbed her belly and that she didn't feel like she ate too much until later.I guess you wouldn't want all that ice sitting in your belly making you feel ill.that is if you are filled tight.Maybe if you drink it really slow?

I'm not even 2 weeks post op but I've enjoyed a couple things anyway. I had a huge family wedding this weekend, which meant I had tons of people in town. Everyone was drinking, so I slowly enjoyed a Decaf with Bailys and even licked the whipped cream. Last night I had a shot of lemon liquor, which I sipped very slowly. I've been eating popsicles, too. I think my belly would tolerate a Slurpie if I took little sips and let the ice melt before swalling. I certainly won't drink like this all the time, but I don't want to miss out on special occasions - like a big, Italian wedding!

7-11 has Crystal Light slurpees now too! They're very good. I get them sometimes when I'm in the mood for something cold and sweet. I can only drink about 3/4's of the small ones though. However, since I can't drink a huge slurpee like I used to, if I don't like the Crystal Light flavor of the day, I get a regular slurpee. Hmm, maybe I'll have to stop at 7-11 on my way to work. :D

And you most certainly shouldn't have to! Having fun is a part of life, and that's why we had the band...to experience *life* again!

Slurpees are good but have very high calorie value (500)

... to me no liquid is worth wasting those ammount of calories since liquid goes right through the band. I have heard if you want to drink your soda to let it sit out for awhile to lose the carbonation. I have yet to try it though.

Good Luck

Michelle

I agree that the sugar & calories aren't worth it, however, when I start feeling well enough to go to the movies, I'm sure I'll grab a slurpie and some Gummy bears. As long as I don't drink them all the time. I even water-down my Gatorade and fruit juices to try to save a few sugar calories.

DONT DO THE GUMMY BEARS YET !

Do yourself a big favor and wait a couple of months....

THEY HURT!

I wouldn't dare eat a Gummy bear right now, but what about in 6 months? I once voice my concerns over movie popcorn - life without movie popcorn may kill me, so another band friend said I could have gummy bears at the movies. I'm not even ready for mashed potatoes yet, but what am I going to munch on in 6 months at the movies? Junior Mints sound easy. I don't plan on keeping any goodies in the house, but if I go to Disneyland, a wedding, movies, or parties, I want to hang like the normal folks. Advice anyone?

I have no problems with popcorn. Gummy bears are usually okay, but sometimes they give me problems. I'm a bad girl at the movies...I get a child's size popcorn and a box of raisinettes and mix them together. :D I eat about half of the thing of popcorn/raisinette combo, then give it away. Before surgery, I would have eaten a tub of popcorn and various chocolates. I still allow myself that stuff, just in much smaller portions now. Relax, you will be normal!

Fabulous! Movie popcorn was going to be my biggest problem. I'm still healing from surgery and my recovery isn't going so well, but I sure look forward to the day when I can enjoy a movie and a lil' popcorn!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
