Katrina Huxley 0 Posted November 27, 2011 Sometimes my throat feel like is burning and I don't even have a sore throat. Sometimes it happens if I eat something or maybe taking my medicine, but when I drink Water it makes it a little better. Has anyone ever had that before? Hopefully, someone can help me out. FishingNurse 1,211 Posted November 27, 2011 Most surgeons do prescribe a ppi (proton pump inhibitor) aka. Prilosec, Prevacid, nexium, or protonix for all sleeve patients. You should inquire with them- if you can drink a little milk that would help to relieve some acid immediately.
Katrina Huxley 0 Posted November 27, 2011 There 2% milk which I don't think I can drink that. Will soy milk help?
FishingNurse 1,211 Posted November 27, 2011 I think so. It's the Calcium that helps. You could even buy liquid Maalox at any drug store
Katrina Huxley 0 Posted November 27, 2011 (edited) Thanks for the help. I think I'll get that at the store before I leave to Washington state to visit my dad. Also, I decide to do some searching for home natural remedies for acid reflux. I found one and they one of them mention apple cider vinger (1 tsp. and 1/2 cup of water) and have 3 tsp. of honey for throughout the day. It says that the honey helps contains natural compound that can heal all types of tissue. I might give that a try and see if that helps. longer-life 139 Posted November 27, 2011 I suggest you speak to your surgeon or primary care physician. Acid reflux is common with VSG patients and sometimes it can be silent. A poster here said she neglected to take her meds and it lead to pre-Barretts disease, which is very serious. Best wishes.
feedyoureye 3,087 Posted November 27, 2011 You probably should not add Vinegar this early on. My Doc said no acids. I had to wait until around 4 months until I could take vinegar salad dressings even... imagine pouring vinegar into an open wound!
Katrina Huxley 0 Posted November 27, 2011 (edited) My stomach is fully heal which only took three months. I tried it first just a little to see if it will hurt my stomach, but it didn't and I think it helped. Edited November 28, 2011 by Katrina Huxley
Katrina Huxley 0 Posted November 28, 2011 I had my surgery on July and I should be fine. If I start to feel anything wrong then I'll stop taking it and get the liquid Maalox at the drug store.
