Vsg Doll 5 Posted November 26, 2011 I am just over a week out from surgery and it was a real struggle in the beginning to get my fluids in. I sorta feel a little dehydrated. I want to gulp soooo badly like i did before the sleeve. I was just wondering how long after surgery were you able to gulp or take a normal sized drink of something without pain? Thanks
lessofme2010 25 Posted November 26, 2011 Everyone is different.. I have been able to take a fairly good size drink right from the time after surgery that I was put on liquids. I can drink more than 75oz. of Water a day. Julie
TiffanyC 7 Posted November 26, 2011 I was feeling thirsty real bad too the first few weeks and now at just over 4 weeks out I can take bigger drinks. I dont have to sip. Therefore I am able to get more fluids in over time. If I take big gulps I do still get a stomach ache but I can take a pretty decent sized drink with out any discomfort. Just keep trying. You will get there. Don't give up drinking fluids or you will end up in the ER. Sometimes we have to suffer a bit of discomfort to keep ourselves healthy.
