Month Two- Share What You Are Eating!

Recommended Posts

I am just starting into my second month with my sleeve. I am working on getting more calories in through the run of the day. My nutritionist wants to see 800 calories and 60 grams of Protein. It is hard getting those calories in! Most days I am between 500 and 600 calories, but I am getting there. I can tolerate only half a cup of food at a time. I am having three meals a day and three Snacks. My body does not do well on Protein drinks, so I am getting all of my protein from my meals.

Here is my day so far:

breakfast: 1/2 cup plain greek yogurt with 1tbsp sugar free strawberry jam

snack: 1 small turkey pepperoni stick

lunch: 2 oz. rainbow trout with 2tbsp rice and 1tbsp peas

snack: 1oz marble cheese

supper: not there yet, but thawing out ground moose meat to do a chili

evening snack: usually milk mixed with a little Peanut Butter and a quarter of a banana

I would love to hear from others as to what you are eating during the day! Share your favorite meals and ideas.

Your sample diet sounds very good! I couldn't eat that much variety at 2 months out but once I could have regular Protein I like turkey meatballs, turkey pepperoni (Hormel), grilled chicken breast (this is my go-to for lunch & dinner, and even Breakfast sometimes!). I have almost burned myself out on eggs but still like a 1-egg omelette sometimes with a link of turkey sausage diced up with sauteed mushrooms, diced tomatoes and a sprinkle of lowfat shredded cheese.< /p>

Nothing bothers my stomach except for fish, for some odd reason i cannot handle fish. But other than that I can pretty much eat anything. But I know I do not get in enough calories or Protein. I am very bad at not getting protein in. I do not drink shakes and I sort of hate meat. I know its bad and I have also not beein drinkin that much Water. I dont know I feel sick at time because I know I am not eating enough and drinking but I just can't help it. If i have something to eat it's more like a few chips or a snack size candy bar. I am losing weight though but i know it's not healthy what I am doing to my body. I need help!!!! what should I do? I am at 196 as of today, I was 197.4 yesterday. My weight from the start of 9/8/11 was 243 I think I need to see my doctor because I just feel down lately.

Yes, Deliah you need to talk to someone right away. Get it to see a nutritionist or dietician and do some meal planning with their help. Your body needs real food, not junk food! If you don't start changing your eating habits now, there will be no way you can maintain weight loss for the long term.

I hope you see out some help to get you back on track! Good luck!

I can eat a variety of things, my surgery was 10/13/11 and 11/23 I went to soft/solids. I cannot eat Pasta. I tried just 1/4 cup and it just felt heavy in my stomach. I eat an egg for breakfast, or cream of wheat w/milk, I ate turkey, potatoes and cranberries for Thanksgiving, the stuffing just felt too dense. I use My Fitness Pal online to track all my foods and average between 5-800 calories a day with up to 80 gms of Protein if I drink a Protein Shake (Premier 11 oz, 30 gms protein, 160 cals. and 3 gms of fat) I have to drink it early in the day because it fills me up - but canned salmon, tuna, chicken or turkey are soft enough - I just tried a salad yesterday and it was wonderful. My son laughed when I said "I had 1/4 cup shredded lettuce ONE mushroom and TWO grape tomatoes" I am glad I could tolerate it because I was so sick of the pureed foods. I love rice but haven't tried it yet. The thing I like about the sleeve is that we go through the full digestive process, so if we're careful and eat right, there aren't very many restrictions, except those you find you can't tolerate. I have no desire for any type of fast food whatsoever. After the two weeks prior and after of liquid diet, then four weeks of purees I wouldn't jeopardize all I've been through to get here. I've lost 40 pounds since surgery and a total of 63 since July, with 110 to go. I'm excited as I got cleared to start using my Wii. I ride a stationary recumbent bike for exercise. Good luck everyone :-)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
