Gobble, Gobble Is Just What I Did!

Recommended Posts

Well..........

I made it through my first Thanksgiving Day Feast, but I

Honesty have to say it was harder then I expected it to be.

I'm now month 7 and on December 4 I'll be 8 months out.

Things have been good (I guess) its been moving very slow and I can't seem to make it to onederland. I've been hovering between 205-200 for around 4 weeks now and it's driving me CrAzY.

I've been on a hungry spell this last week and have helped myself to anything my little sleeve desired. I've been crazing. This includes stuffing/gravy, pie, mashed potatoes ( the ones with lots of butter and real cream) I started cooking thanksgiving dinner on Wednesday and grazed all day and Thursday too. I actually ate so much food yesterday that my sleeve started to hurt and I was scared. What's going on inside my head. I'm not that hungry. I fell like I'm longing for my old friend (food), and this makes me very depressed. :(

I started this journey at 278 solid pounds. I'm only 5 ft 2inches so you can imagine how heavy I looked, and how bad my eating habits were.

I'm making some changes and it starts TODAY! I'm going to try the 5 day pouch test. Have any of you tried this? I want to get back in touch with my sleeve and awake the sleeping scales and get rid of the monster inside. Any suggestion would be appreciated.

Thanks for your post. :)

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
