prittykitty1984 0 Posted November 25, 2011 well my name is Crystal and this is day 4 post op after the the big surgey. I am having a hard time swallowing my full liquids. i keep having painful gas travel up my throat and then I let out a little burp then it feels better. its gotten a little better but definetly an adjustment. I feel hungry and then when the Jello touches my mouth my appetite disapears. today is Thanksgiving and I'm ok with not eating. in 3 weeks I'll make a pureed turkey stew and add some flavorless Protein Powder to it. I can't believe that i had the surgery already the whole process from consultation to setting the date for surgery was 3 months. I must say my surgeon dr Marc Zare is amazing him and his asst Ben took great care of me. so whoever is doing their surgery in san jose ca dr Zare is awesome! its crazy how the day played out monday the 21st. went to check in the hospital and then got my iv and meds then I went to the operating table and woke up all done. just happend so fast. the first 2 days were hard because it took a long time for the anethsia to wear off and because of that I was nausous a lot. I didnt like being so out of it. then when I came down from the meds I focused on recovery. the gas pain was the first thing I wanted to tackle so I did what the dr and nurses said to do and walked every couple hours it really does help. the gas took a few days to go away too. I look forward to this new chapter in my life and hope that my tummy will feel better soon.I try not to take my pain meds unless I get uncomfortable which is recommended I hear since it can constipate. if anyone has reccomenations for yummy full liquids i'm open to ideas. i ordered pro cel so I can add it to my foods. one thing I have to work on now is eating slowly because when i get to solid foods or even now with liquids I can make myself sick and don't want that. well thats all for now. Lissa 2,631 Posted November 25, 2011 Crystal, Congrats and welcome to the loser's bench! I did refried Beans a lot on full liquids. Also, pureed scrambled eggs aren't horrible for that stage. I loved chicken and beef broth before I was allowed to have solids. The warm just felt so good on my tummy. Hopefully your doc gave you some guidelines about what is and isn't allowed at each stage. Mine gave us a book that I have completely worn out looking for different things. If you search around on here, you'll find lots of ideas for other meals that are compatible for various stages of the diet. Good luck on your journey!!
