Tubing has come loose from port...

Recommended Posts

Hi, everyone;

Just banded 6 weeks ago, have not had a fill due to unexplained abdominal pain. Dr. has determined that the tube has come loose from the band. (CAT scan).

Just wondering if anyone else has had this happen. I will be having another surgery soon.

Oh my! Sorry to hear that. I've heard of it happening, but I thought it was kind of rare due to how much extra tubing they put in. Hope you have a speedy recovery and can start getting your fills soon!

I knew I would I would hear this, is not the right place for this, why? because denial runs deep in all of us and as long as all is well with us as individuals its cool and we can try to sympathize with another but unless we our selves have experienced the struggle we can’t relate. OK!

I am not trying to change anyone’s mind, when my band was working I loved it and the fact that it is not now working is not its fault. I still love my band. I take responsibility for not stopping all the poking and prodding my doc said I should have stopped them at two attempts. What I am hoping for here is to let banisters know there are potential problems that they can avoid.

As a fat person I know our hope runs deep, we hope for the best but seldom plan for the worst. Here is the worst case, plan for it, it doesn’t mean it will happen but if it does take control of the situation. Research who does your fills and be clear you are the customer and be in control. If I had read my story I would have known not to let someone dig around in there because it could cause a potential leak.

Don’t under estimate our readers they don’t want the glossed over version of the lap band they want to know the good, the bad and the ugly.

      Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
      1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

        All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

      I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
